Mercedes May Bring Front Wheel Drive GLB Crossover To The US Market
Talk about a potential Mercedes-Benz GLB is nothing new but know we have the clearest indication yet that it could be offered in the United States.

Citing unnamed sources in Stuttgart, Car and Driver reports that the GLB will arrive Stateside and be based around Daimler’s next-generation front-wheel drive architecture, also set to be used by the impending A-Class sedan.

At this stage, it is speculated that the GLB will slot between the GLA and GLC in the company’s line-up, as its name implies. However, rather than simply being another Mercedes SUV/crossover that looks almost identical to its siblings, it is thought that the GLB will be positioned a baby as a baby G-Class and therefore adopt a more boxy and upright design.

There were a lot of fans of the former GLK's boxy styling, myself included. And there is still a healthy market for these types of vehicles. Sales of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited are unstoppable.

I happen to like the "Soviet Era" look of the G Class, but one that trades on that look would sell in droves. This is money waiting to be grabbed.

If Jeep had made the Renegade look like a mini Wrangler instead of a bimbo, nail-girl's dream, it would probably sell double its rate.

Right now is prime time for Mercedes to sample product in the U.S., with record sales of base examples and AMG variations, not to mention Maybach's resurgence, now is the time for Mercedes to test what works, and perhaps what doesn't, every brand knows this golden phase doesn't last forever, so take advantage of it Benz, and build me an AMG sprinter just because thanks!

I've seen a "cleaner" version of a GLB-class sized concept. Looked really slick. A real mini GL-class that would probably shake-up demand for smaller Jeeps & Buick/Chevy small SUVs as well.

It has that big aggressive SUV design but on a reduced scale - kinda like having a spoiled miniature Doberman Pinscher. Small size - big dog attitude.
