SPIED! STUD or DUD? Is The Tesla Model 3 Caught In The Nude Getting Your APPROVAL?
Tesla fanboys and fangirls, unite! The time has come! No, the car hasn't officially released yet. Hold your horses!

While we've seen a brief video clip posted by Tesla's head honcho, Elon Musk, we have yet to see the car fully bare, sans camouflage. Well, today is the day that changes. Some eagle eyed folks on Reddit spotted a white Model 3 in the Bay Area and caught it in the act.

Seen in Cupertino was the entry-level Tesla. It's completely bare and naked for the world to see. All of the design is exposed. No tape, no cladding, no nothing.

To me it seems like Musk is moving full steam ahead with a launch this summer. While it may seem risky to traditional gearheads, perhaps TSLA's main man is onto something. Time will tell but for now we've got one simple question:

Is the all-new Tesla Model 3 in production form a STUD or DUD? Does this white Model 3 get your APPROVAL?

I will keep my 4Runner. It seems to my eye look a bit like a shrunken model X vs a miniature model S.

The proportions are nasty. The Model S may look like a giant Fusion, but at least it has some grace. Not only is this graceless looking, it looks it borrowed VW stylists to make it look a decade old.

I think the Model 3 is looking more and more like an updated Dodge Neon.

For those alive in the 1950s the side profile, roof to rear and C pillar treatment bears a certain resemblance to the Henry J from Kaiser Motors.

I have no idea what these other guys are looking at - I like it.

It's indescript and inoffensive, and that's lot better than what many others are turning out.

BobM: And thank you for showing us, once again, the vitriol and spewing hate we can routinely expect from you. You never miss a chance to show your true colors :-)

One of the strengths of the Model S was that it actually looked the part of a Panamera fighter. Its lines are attractively clean, its stance is aggressive, and the proportions are practically perfect. This Model 3 is the antithesis of everything I just said to describe the Model S.

It's fanbois and fangurls to ya! :p

Haters gonna hate. There may already be more of these running around than Chevy Bolt EVs and it's not even out yet. It has been spotted in the Midwest and Northeast already in various colors. It's happening, hold on to yer furry hats. Better start lookin' at where you will be mounting that home charging station :)

You certainly are optimistic - BUT - I continue to believe that an EV - especially one that will NOT be eligible for Tax deductions - is a niche vehicle and only so many people will be willing to buy one. Add in that within 2 years there will be lots of competition - and an industry downturn which will lower prices.

EV competition is good, that's what we want. Tax credits (not deductions) go away once an automaker sells a certain number so they will become less of a factor soon. If the car is crappy few will buy it, if it is great many will, credits or not. On my Volt I was not eligible for the full credit, still got the Volt, on the Model S it's frankly in the noise.

Volt is a plugin hybrid with a 16+ kWh battery, can be driven entirely without any gasoline. Hybrids when they were introduced also had incentives that expired.

My god the comments in here are idiotic, but none more so than Aspy11's who shows us an image of a car that resembles this Tesla only in that it has 4 wheels and is white.

Tesla is going to learn one of the most elemental business lessons the hard way...

It is very, very tricky (and can take years!) for a brand to make an effective move down-market.

Sure many premium automakers have done that (over 25 years!). I think the first one was the Mercedes 190E but that was just a small Mercedes, not a down-market one. It is most often done through trial and error over a period of years.

This down-market Model 3 comes across looking ... well... 'down-market'.

I think we ended up with a Tesla Cimarron. I am not optimistic.

The disbelief continues. Must be getting nervous about being so wrong.

There are more pictures of the 3 on other sites and it looks cool, aggressive and certainly good enough to be a market smash. I guess the guys in here prefer the kid racer / transformer / Predator face look of a Lexus?
