SPIED + VIDEO: Volkswagen's All-New T-Roc Undergoes Torture Testing At The Nürburgring — Tire Squealing Fun Ensues

I have to admit, the engineers and product developers who get the chance to do track testing with all-new prototypes have the life. Think about it. The whole point of your gig is to test vehicles to their destruction or for improvement.

Just hazarding a guess but I'd also wager they're compensated pretty well as it does take a certain skill set to do what these ladies and gents do.

Now, onto the subject. Volkswagen's Tiguan has grown up, quite literally, which means there is a gap in its product portfolio. That leaves room for a compact sport-utility vehicle to duke it out with the likes of the Honda HR-V and Nissan Juke.

Having said that, the company has been preparing what's known as the T-Roc. Seen in concept form way back in 2014, it's clear that the vehicle has retained some design cues but, obviously, has become far more practical.

Seen in this new video clip, it's clear that the Volkswagen is not meant for track duty; however, it gives us a good look before the T-Roc becomes official. We expect it to happen relatively soon as the vehicle looks pretty finalized.

American version?? It looks like it has such a soft suspension tuning that it's tipsy through corners. I know it was being pushed, but it looked rather wobbly and sloppy. That said, VW should use the Troc to replace the Golf given the similar sizes and that crossovers are likely to sell more. That would leave the GTI with a "bespoke" (sort of) body. No matter how dull the tRoc is, it should sell better than the Golf. This is a tremendously important product and it cannot arrive with any excuses.
