CAR WARS + VIDEO! Well, Actually, TECH WARS! Audi's MMI vs. BMW's iDrive vs. Mercedes' COMAND
One of the most difficult choices to make is figuring out which infotainment system works best. That's because everyone is different.

Some people like menu-based systems, others like touch screens and others want all the options under the sun. What's an automaker to do? Try its damnedest, that's what I'd say.

As of today, I think it'd be tough to say that a manufacturer is doing a better job than the three Germans. Well, OK, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' UConnect system is quite good. But, for the sake of this post, we're focusing on what carwow picked for its showdown.

That said, we'd like to hear what you think, Spies. Of the three: 1) Audi's MMI, 2) BMW's iDrive and 3) Mercedes-Benz's COMAND, which one suits you best?

Let us know what you think AFTER you watch the clip.

A top infotainment system needs to offer so much more than a great satellite navigation setup. Sharp graphics, a user-friendly interface and clever input methods are all arguably as important to many car buyers as a strong engine or a smooth ride.

Mercedes, BMW and Audi produce three of the best on the market at the moment, but just how good are they? So whether you're a gadget fan, an audiophile, or just appreciate a good sat nav, check out this infotainment battle which settles once and for all which car maker produces the best system!

While my Audi is older (2012), the MMI doesn't impress me. In many ways my 2014 Passat was a far better radio/nav interface than my MMI. Perhaps they've made some improvements, and of course the MMI does more than radio and nav. I have no hands on experience with either iDrive or Command, so I can't compare them.

I wonder how many drivers would choose the option of a normal analog dash with telematics off to the side on a separate screen (hidden if you want) vs an LCD dash like the one above.

I'd rather have old-old fashioned gauges with minimal intrusion of infogarbage.

I LOVE BMW's iDrive ! very easy to use, just a perfect layout . one of my favorite things is being able to input gps address while driving.. nothing drives me more crazy than having to be at a complete stop to put in an address.

I do wonder how many buying decisions are made based on the data systems in today's cars. For me, I initially thought my previous Audi's MMI system was superior to my current car's, but now that I'm used to it (took a few months), the differences don't make a difference. do car buyers really have sufficient time to really test the systems before making a purchasing decision?
