Cadillac's Plan To Become A Global Leader Is On Track Says President Johan de Nysschen
A year and a half since General Motors Co.’s Cadillac packed up at the Renaissance Center for a new start in Manhattan, the brand’s leaders say they are making strides in transforming the famed marque into a dominant global luxury player.

Cadillac has a mostly new staff for its global headquarters, housed in modern offices in trendy Soho. Its new ad campaign, “Dare Greatly,” is making inroads with key younger buyers, the brand says. And it has a half dozen new vehicles, including more crossovers, on the way to improve its reach to 90 percent of the luxury market by 2021.

Curry Wurst and fries -my favorite after hours treat when I lived in Berlin. The beer wasn't bad either.

The Germans are pissing themselves with laughter.

Lincoln has the right Idea with the Continental. Be American and luxurious. Cadillac is still not catching on that being a wannabe BMW and delivering the performance to make that happen is actually RUINING them.

Return to names. Use smooth/fast drivetrains. Luxury and comfort at the highest level. Styling that is instant classic.

De Nysschen must be fired.

Whatever Caddy's plans are, they will have to do it without any of my dollars. After experiencing the Caddy my mom mistakenly bought new last year, I am convinced that Caddy takes Chevrolets and rebadges them. It drove like a rental car, felt like a cheap Chevy and was seriously unsatisfactory.

Cadillac has a pipe dream if they will be selling the low quality crap they are making today.

I happen to adore the CTSV, but it's more hot rod than Cadillac. As for Cadillacs being low quality, that just isn't so.

I still love my CT6 - although I would prefer newer styling. Having driven a new Lincoln Continental - I prefer the Cadillac and certainly over the E-class - which does not have the interior room. And I still believe that Gm has the ability to engineer and build a superior car. However - that is because I was a tech - at a time when GM made many of the best parts - transmission for Rolls and BMW - Air Conditioner Compressors for Mercedes and others - and ALternators for lots more. I still believe they make the best automatics. The Corvette 8 speed is leagues ahead of the ZF 8hp. So - I would not bet against GM - BUT - I also think DeNysschen is an idiot - so that may be a stretch for now.

The problem is that Cadillacs don't look like Cadillacs should nor are they named as Cadillacs should be named. In each segment the Cadillac should be on the big side and be stately, elegant, and opulent.

Cadillac can't be Mercedes, but the irony is that Mercedes can't be Cadillac (i.e. the "real" Cadillac) either, but Cadillac has forgotten how to be itself.

Cadillac has no need to compete with Mercedes; they just think they do.

This would be like one day Ferrari waking up and going OMG! we need to compete with Porsche.

Hiring a foreigner to run a quintessentially American brand was a mistake. Cadillac needs to be 100% American in its DNA and De Nysschen simply cannot understand that.

The nameplate means so much baggage that I seriously doubt they'll succeed at this.
Mercedes is still Mercedes, then there's BMW followed very closely by Audi and Lexus. Cadillac may just as well get used to a few more years wait right with Volvo, Lincoln, Acura and Infiniti.
