BMW Killed Off The 6-Series Coupe When No One Was Looking
BMW has confirmed that back in February, it stopped production of the 6-Series Coupe but is continuing to produce the 6-Series Gran Coupe and Convertible models.

The carmaker revealed the news to Road and Track but failed to provide a specific reason why the model was silently killed off. With that being said, there are two likely reasons.

In related news...Bentley killed off the Flying Spur as of Dec 31 2016.

If somebody wants a new 4-door Bentley, they need to buy a Bentoureg. Or, perhaps there is a leftover new 2015 or 2016 Flying Spur still kicking around in the US system....inquire at your local Bentley Centre.

The Bentley Mulsanne is a 4 door Bentley that is readily available new- and has not nor likely would be discontinued.

Apologies...let me edit...

...If somebody wants a new 4-door Bentley that can be used as an everyday vehicle and which costs less than $400,000, they need to buy a Bentoureg.

Or, perhaps there is a leftover new 2015 or 2016 Flying Spur still kicking around in the US system....inquire at your local Bentley Centre.

In related news that is related to the related news about the Flying Spur being canned...in the NYC area, Bentley dealers are advertising $1,788 per month cheap leases on the Bentayga WHICH INCLUDES 3 YEARS OF FREE MAINTENANCE!

By the way, Bentley's only have 3 year warranty's on them to begin with.

If the camo'd prototypes are any indication this may be a big fat fail for BMW. One of the reasons why the new S-coupe is so appealing is b/c Mercedes completely redesigned it and almost made it a completely different product and not a successor to the CL. And the new S-coupe is one of the sexiest cars on the planet right now which adds to the appeal. The testers for the 8-coupe don't look that much different than the 6-coupe so I can't imagine buyers justifying a $20k higher starting price (I'm estimating). While the outgoing/gone 6-coupe was an attractive car, the S-coupe makes it look dowdy in comparison.
Seeing where the new 7 seems to be failing against the S, I can't imagine the new 8 having anymore success against the S-coupe. It may even fail harder. Also, does that mean the Gran Coupe will move upmarket as well, and leave that market to the A7 and CLS and force it to compete with the AMG-GT 4-door?

Perhaps they think, internally, that the M4 is the new 6 series.

The 2 door 6 Series was a mess. It needed to die.

How come? Too heavy and show? Too expensive?

Ugly for one. Performance was nothing special. Handling was more Buick than Bimmer. People stayed away from it in droves.

Successful septuagenarian plastic surgeons, periodontists, and orthodontists across Westchester, Nassau, and Orange counties are all shedding a tear tonight. They are wagging their pinkie rings in sadness.

Based on the spy photos, the 6 series will be back but it will have a new name.

This also meant the M6 is discontinued?
