Tesla Commuter Bus Involved In Crash, Off-duty Sheriff Killed
Sad news coming to us from the Bay Area, which I just left today.

Reports from northern California are indicating that an off-duty sheriff has been killed in an accident involving a commuter bus carrying 51 Tesla employees. If you're not from the Bay Area, it's common practice for technology companies to "bus in" employees to make their commutes easier.

According to folks on the ground, the sheriff's Volkswagen Beetle was traveling slowly or stopped in the number two lane of I-580. The bus was traveling at around 65 mph when it made impact with the Beetle. As of now it seems as though alcohol and drugs are not being cited as reasons for the crash. The latest seems to indicate that a severe glare limited the bus driver's visibility and they did not see the white Volkswagen.

An Alameda County sheriff’s deputy was killed Friday when a commuter bus carrying Tesla employees rear-ended his car on eastbound Interstate 580 at the Altamont Pass, according to law enforcement officials.

The deputy was identified by Sheriff Greg Ahearn as Sroeuy Khin, a father-of-four who would have celebrated his 51st birthday tomorrow...

..."All Tesla employees on the bus are safe and accounted for, however we are deeply saddened by reports that there was a fatality as a result of the accident. We will lend any support that we can to the authorities who are investigating the incident," the statement said...

The Irrational Inquirer headline aside, this is (1) not about Tesla or (2) automotive news.

Holy Hell Clickbait article, Batman. Wow. Talk about a misleading headline. The not-outlandish version should read:

"Off-Duty Policeman Killed by Human-driven Commutor Bus Carrying Tesla Employees."

Assuming the story is appropriate to a car enthusiast site, the title should read: "Off-Duty Policeman Killed by Bus" anything more is sensationalism.

This is really sad for the relatives of the person killed.

Understandably this was a high-speed crash, but that Beetle appears structurally deficient, the passenger space is completely crumpled, the back of the car pushed into it. Also did this 2016 bus have any automatic emergency braking?
