SPIED + VIDEO: Mercedes-Benz's Next-gen GLE-Class SUV Makes Its FIRST Video Appearance
One thing that's been truly staggering to me is how well the current-gen Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class sells. Both in standard and coupe form, this vehicle's been a hit since its refresh.

In New York they're simply everywhere. And, in the suburbs, the GLE Coupe is a hot item among soccer moms.

So, how is Mercedes going to top this? Well, that's where the all-new model comes into play. Although details are quite mum at this stage, the all-new GLE has been nabbed while undergoing developmental testing.

Given its nameplate, it's pretty obvious that it will largely be inspired by the E-Class sedan. That means two things: A more rounded shape, which is Mercedes' M.O. from a design perspective as of late, and, lots of technology will make its way into the popular SUV. Expect everything that's currently "living" in the E to transition over to the GLE.

To get an idea of what the GLE will look like, scope out the video clip below. Is it me or does that front end have a bit of an Infiniti vibe to it?

What say you, Spies?

Given how great the current GLE is even at the end of its product cycle, I am quite optimistic for the new one.

On a tangent, wouldn't it be funny of Mercedes bought Jeep and Ram when the FCA implosion happens?

The old ML now GLE as on my shopping list back in late 2014. Test drove it and found it good, but the tech stuff was way behind the times, the interior sans real leather, and overall value per dollar not there if one optioned it up. Hopefully the new one will fix some of that, but suspect that value wise its still something that one pays a lot extra for just to get the 3 pointed star.

We had a mechanically similar GL (now GLS) until we outgrew it. We really liked it.
