RECALL ALERT: FCA Recalls 1.3 Million RAM Pick Ups Due To Software Issues That Could Put YOU At Risk
According to the latest reports, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has a problem to the tune of 1.3 million vehicles. That's because that's how many RAM pick-up trucks have just been recalled.

If you have one of the affected vehicles, you should make yourself aware pretty quickly.

This recall involves the following:

- 2013-2016 RAM 1500 and 2500
- 2014-2016 RAM 3500

Reports are indicating that if these pick ups experience a significant impact on the vehicle's underside, sensors that deal with the autos safety system may malfunction. Then, your airbags will not deploy and your pre-tensionining seat belts may not do their job.

Keep an eye out. If you have one of the model year trucks, see if there are warning lights in the vehicle's instrument cluster. According to FCA, a warning light will be present if the car has encountered a problem.

Fiat Chrysler is recalling 1.3 million pickup trucks because of a software problem that may be tied to at least one death and two injuries.

The problem could disable side airbags from deploying and seat belts from tightening in a rollover accident.

If there is a significant impact on the truck's underbody, Fiat Chrysler says the truck's safety system could incorrectly conclude that a sensor underneath the truck has failed. If this was a Tesla article, everyone would be up in arms about how unsafe the cars are. Definitely a double standard.

If it helps you in any way, I am dismayed that a thump-thump on the road can disable all the safety devices.

1 - A warning light sets if the problem is present, people who ignore those things do so at their own peril. I always recommend finding out what caused the light first - and THEN make a decision on how quick to fix.

2 - Every car has multiple things in it that could put you at risk - most starting with a large container of combustible liquid - to a way of starting the EXPLOSIONS that power your car. Add in the multiple problems with Humans who drive cars - and if these things really bother you (For most of my life - we never worried about air bags - they did not exist) - I suggest you walk - although their are pitfalls with that too.
