Is THIS Deal On A 2017 Jaguar F-Type A STUD or DUD?

Is THIS Deal On A 2017 Jaguar F-Type A STUD or DUD?
A friend of mine messaged me about a month ago telling me that there are some screaming good deals on Jaguar F-Types. And, honestly, I didn't know what to think.

I took a peek at the details of the deal and the numbers are quite eye popping. Today he went in to talk numbers and seal the deal.

This is what we're talking about. An F-Type S AWD, which has an MSRP of $87,595. Just under $5,500 due at signing, 10,000 miles a year for 36 months. This equates to a payment of $789/month per Jaguar's website. In reality the car's MSRP was about $93,000, the monthly was knocked down to $700 and they cut my friend a check for his last three Lexus payments.

So, I've got to ask the Spies: Is this deal a STUD or DUD? What say you? Would YOU be getting into an F-Type for those kind of numbers?

It's visually appealing, for sure, but it's not something I aspire to.

If you're considering any car, I'd hope that the prospective buyer goes beyond "looks nice, drives good" in their purchase decision.

Great deal if you plan to get rid of the car after the 5 year warranty and free maintenance is up. But any Jaguar would be a financial nightmare after 5 years. Would have love to have bought an F-Type, but instead went with the more reliable Porsche Boxster since I plan to keep the car for a long time.

So very true. Moreover, the F Type will be much more unreliable DURING the warranty.

Buying a Jaguar, Maserati, or Alfa Romeo is insanity due to the quality control issues they have that affect reliability.

Lease the pretty car and be thankful it's not yours every time it goes to the dealer for yet another issue.

It's more of a reflection that Jaguar aimed wrong with the F Type. They aimed for $100K+ when they should have aimed it at $50K+. It should have been much more of a populist than patrician. In reality, the only Jaguar that is selling is the F Pace which nearly sells as many units as the rest of the line combined. But even so, Jaguar sales are a trickle.

The F Type design is not aging well, at all. Additinally, many cars resemble its general frontal appearance making it far less exotic and rather banal.

Face it, the F type is long in the tooth and is in need of updating redesign.

I have never been a fan of leasing cars, but this has me thinking...

I looked at leasing a convertible but they wanted way too much at the time. My only two issues were it being a two seater (I really wanted 4) and the stupid sales person kept wanting me to gun it (and he did) over and over to point out the exhaust sound. I like it every so often, but that much noise just gets droning and detracts from the experience. The touchscreen display was a little hard to work with too at speed. All things considered though, that's a crazy good deal on an F-Type.

I remember when I TRIED to purchase my first Mercedes - when I was 18 (Just after the earth's crust cooled) - and - having the CASH in my pocket to buy the car - 2 dealers turned me away and would not even TRY to let me buy one.

The third dealer nearly collapsed when I walked directly into his office and layed the money out on his desk FIRST - to show I was a serious customer. THis dealer actually gave me a much better deal than I would have gotten from the others - and I dealt personally with him until he died about 10 years ago. Funny- the result is that the dealership was bought by a large conglomerate dealer - and they are impossible to deal with and have a very poor service department - and I no longer deal with them. I am now using that first dealer.
