Elon Musk Ignores Goldman Sachs Speculation And CONFIRMS Model 3 Deliveries Will Happen In July
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed through a series of rapid-fire tweets on Sunday that first deliveries of Model 3 will take place in July. The news comes after Goldman Sachs recently held its downgraded rating of the the company, citing lack of confidence that the electric carmaker could deliver Model 3 on time and at quality.

Prior to Musk’s reveal that first Model 3 productions cars will be delivered in July, the company had gone on record stating that July was the beginning of low volume production and deliveries would begin sometime later. Sunday’s update by the serial tech entrepreneur confirms that in addition to kicking off production of Model 3 in July, the highly anticipated mass market sedan will also start hitting the streets for the first time that month.

For Elon, for current Tesla owners, for the alleged 400,000 Model 3 deposit holders, I wish Tesla Motors raging success with the Model 3, and overall.

Me too.

Today they released more information on how Model 3 compares to Model S (source at the bottom). They really streamlined the heck out of this car:

- Less than 100 different configurations versus 1,500+ on the Model S
- Half the cargo volume of the S
- No HEPA filtration option or smart air suspension (Damn, I really like the suspension on mine, it lowers automatically based on speed and raises for speedbumps based on GPS)
- Pay-per-use supercharging vs. unlimited free supercharging on the S

For $35k base, I still feel it is a great deal. They also confirmed the performance for the single-motor version: 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. That is still faster than mine (5.9 seconds).

My wife should get one of the first Model 3s after employees since we are previous owners, live in NorCal, and I waited in line. Will let you guys know the verdict. After that I'll need to decide whether to get the dual motor 3 or bite the financial bullet and get a newer S.

The past two vehicles I traded in for an electric were perfectly fine and fetched a nice downpayment. You could be on the market if you so desire :)

On my S, I saved about $15k by being one of the first in line. It was a big gamble but I paid off. I think the options on the 3 will only go up in price during 2018 and beyond, so there will be some advantage to being an early adopter. I'm glad Tesla and SpaceX employees will get theirs first to mitigate a little bit of that risk.
