Hyundai's High Performance Tuscon N To Lead The Charge Against BMW - Do They Even Stand A Chance?
We've already seen Hyundai's upcoming i30 (aka Elantra GT) N hot hatch spiritedly driven across the UK countryside. While that car is set to be unveiled later this year, a recent report tells us that many more Hyundais will be getting the N treatment—including the Korean automaker's crossovers such as the Tucson and Santa Fe.

Talking to Australia's Drive (no relation), Hyundai N boss Albert Biermann says the i30 N will only be the first in a slew of N-ified Hyundais; specifically, hot versions of the upcoming i30 Coupe and second-generation Veloster, among others.

Genesis was suspossed to compete with the luxury performance nameplates and failed. So no, Hyundai has no chance. They need to stick to trying to compete with ford and gm cars.

What is your data for saying that Genesis "failed"? Sales goals have consistently been met.

Against BMW? NO! But aiming in that direction is a sign that Hyundai plans to be what Honda was to the 80s and 90s i.e. a dead reliable brand with affordable performance befitting much more expensive vehicles.

Like an F-Sport Lexus RX350. It's just embarrassing. Don't do it. Badging that is baseless and branding that is meaningless.

Do people even read the articles tied to these flame bait titles? I saw nothing about them gunning for BMW in the link.

While I have no doubt that Hyundai can build a performance version of the Tucson, I think they should concentrate on other areas to bring up their brand value by improving areas of the vehicles.

I think the Genesis line was good for them because it gave them experience on trying to sell up market, both in advertising and engineering.
