Audi A5 Sportback G-Tron Debuts at Worthersee With Special Finish
Audi is one of the very few high-end automakers out there selling cars with gasoline engines capable of running on compressed natural gas. After coming out with G-Tron versions of the A3 Sportback and the A4 Avant, the sexier A5 Sportback has also received the CNG treatment and it will be effectively launched early this summer. Audi has decided to remind us about its impending arrival by bringing a one-off version at the annual Wörthersee GTI meet.

While parent company Volkswagen has a fully modified 410-hp hybrid GTI First Decade concept on display, Audi’s CNG-compatible A5 only boasts a special exterior finish with a two-tone look and a honeycomb pattern on top of the blue shade over the car’s rear half. More blue accents are noticeable in the headlights, brake calipers, and on the “G-Tron” lettering adorning the front doors and above the rear window. As for the taillights, these have been modified as well to look more high-tech compared to those of the standard car.

Absolutely gorgeous. Best all around car in the segment. Best car for family and canyon carving.

I don't really get the CNG, but I guess it's to appease the libertards. I guess Audi is playing it smart. I guess MB and BMW are late to the bandwagon.

I used to be gaga for an A5. Now, not so much. I think they've lost their finesse in the last 3 to 5 years.

Amen Steve-O. The A5 was sexy and now it's dull. Next up for Audi's design rape is the A7.

The A5/S5 was the best looking car in the segment and they managed to ruin it in only 4 years. Congrats all around!

Saw an A5 Sportback in the real yesterday and couldn't be more disappointed. I don't think the car uses gas for fuel, just pure estrogen. It looks even more generic in person than in photos especially the front-end. Just like the coupe, the curved body line on the sides contradicts all of the other angular elements of the car it really distracts from the design.
