Elon Musk Leaves White House Avisory Counsil After Trump Chooses Jobs Over Climate Change

Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk said on Thursday he will leave White House advisory councils after U.S. President Donald Trump said he would withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate accord.

Trump's decision to pull the U.S. from the landmark 2015 global agreement to fight climate change spurned pleas from U.S. allies and corporate leaders in an action that fulfilled a major campaign pledge.

"Climate change is real. Leaving Paris is not good for America or the world," Musk said in a Twitter post.

"Chooses jobs over climate change" is just spin, and very transparent spin at that!

Look at the Prez's well-documented history, and you'll see abundant evidence that he does not make his decisions from an overriding sense of benevolence towards others. He makes decisions based on profit. HIS profit (self-benefit). If any jobs happen in the process, then that's purely incidental.

The simple fact is that huge enterprises can make more profit in the US when they are not encumbered by pesky laws that compel them not to poison the water, air, and land. It's just less expensive (and more profitable) to do business that way.

It's no secret that The Prez favors Big Oil and Big Coal over renewable energy, or a clean/healthy environment. Profit over climate. Profit over environment. Profit over The People. But ya gotta admit, "jobs" is a powerful buzzword that makes viewers happy.

No reason why Trump's ties to big oil should be considered a BAD thing, considering the fact that our infrastructure is still reliant on oil and coal. Switching to green energy makes no sense and would only cost tax payers trillions of dollars and loss of American jobs. Steadily declining oil prices should be conceived as a GOOD thing.

It's about time Musk got the boot off of the council. Trump needs to distance himself as much as possible from these libertard green energy doomsayers who don't care about American jobs and what it means to be a patriot.

When Exxon, BP and Conoco (biggest of the big oil) come out in favour of the Paris Accord, you know the President's decision is not about science or facts. Climate change is real. C02 is a real problem. Polar ice caps are melting, seas and lakes are rising, flooding is a growing problem for many coastal cities. Deny it if you want. The world is moving on to fix the problem. I am sure the USA will be back in 2020 (if not sooner) with its sleeves rolled up ready to help out.

Yes we should listen to jet setting CEO's who fly around the world on their BBJ, Lears, G4 and yacht on the Ferretti. Do as I say not as I do...

Canada the greenest country in the world with the Boreal forest producing 1/4 of the worlds Oxygen. Sadly we are being decimated with asshole politicians trying to be green which is killing our economy.

Ontario once the manufacturing powerhouse of North America whereby electricity rates have skyrocketed 400% (the most expensive in NA) and will double yet again in the next couple of years due to a clusterfuck green energy policy that is creating energy poverty in this province -but at least we are green!

Both Spain and Germany tried this and it failed. I am an environmentalist but refuse to believe in BS or junk science. CO2 is plant food which gets converted into Oxygen by plants. Dirty diesels by the likes of Audi, Posrche, VW, Fiat Chrysler, Merc and others -that'a another story altogether and have real consequences.

Environmentalism has been hijacked by asshole profiteer charlatans like "butter fly scientist" David Suzuki with his 5 mega mansions and jet setting Al Gore interwebs inventor.

Being green these days is all about getting your money through the guise of Carbon Taxes or Crap and Trade which do nothing for the environment (and failed in Australia too by the way) and allow the big emitters to buy credits from the likes of Tesla and keep on emitting shit. Wake the fuck up people and see past the shell game so we can create real solutions. Trump gets this.

I repeat: The smartest folks at the largest employers in the land think that dropping out of the Paris Accord is a bad move. But feel free to agree with a NYC property developer with a dubious business/legal record who currently has the DOJ, the FBI, The US Congress, The US Senate and a Special Prosecutor hunting him (and most of his inner circle) at the moment looking to put an end to his term President. Everyone around the whole world has got in completely wrong, but The Donald is right. #covfefe

Two things about Musk:

1. He is a phony in that his actions of using private jets and other non-environmentally sensitive ways of traveling contradict his statements of being super green.

2. As a businessman reliant on new energy technologies, he is favoring a Climate pact that presents the image that it really will help out the environment (despite the fact that the details of the accord do not show how they are making a real difference). So in essence, he is fattening his own wallet.

I'm glad that we have a President that understands that a strong economy is advantageous to being held hostage to the Church of Green and living as paupers.

I'm pro-economy, but I think this will have the opposite effect. There will likely be some sort of retaliation, trade embargo, etc. that will counter-effect any sort of improvement from lack of regulations. It also makes us look like backwater morons on a global stage.

@TheSteve: the problem with your socialist-fascist thinking is that you are immune to the values of compromise and balance.

Myopic people like you want "to save the Earth's blood" at any cost with the repercussions be damned.

You're a person with money, so you're OK, but you clearly do not give a rat's ass about working-class people who ALWAYS lose when your greener-than-thou tribe decides to rape them so that you can pretend to do something for cleaner air.

You are a hypocrite.

The fact is that green goals MUST be weighed against economic goals and valuing the former to the detriment of the latter is idiocy, but that's how you thinks.

Trump is merely bringing some balance to the situation and the eco idiots like you are offended and outraged YET AGAIN, but such emotional responses are the sign of weak brains.

Qwertyfla- Your life is very likely going to be saved by a Muslim doctor or nurse one day so I would relax a bit on the hate. Maybe go for a walk. Racism isn't cool or acceptable in any forum. Game misconduct - you're out.

MD- Love most of your comments and industry insights, but you cross the line with your comments today and you know it (you kinda do this a bit..) with The Steve - high sticking penalty for you. 2 min in the penalty box. Be nice. It doesn't hurt. Share, but don't scare.

As someone who gives advice to SVP and EVP's in the financial space, I feel quite comfortable giving advice /my opinion on US or EU issues, complex or simple. And I try to be fact based and accurate as much as I can. I also don't go along with any group or opinion just to be amendable. My comments value is worth their price..$0.00. Feel free to disagree or agree with me, but you won't ever see me insulting any of you or any person or group.

Based on the facts and only the facts, Mr. Trump is widely seen as being a disaster as a President, both locally and abroad. You don't have to like this view it if you voted for him or wish you could have. You can vote my comments down any time you would like.

Canadiancomments All my doctors are Muslims -Cardiologist, MD, Dermatologist, Neurlogist & Dentist (but they're not real doctors). Does that make me a anti-Dentite bastard now too?

I am not racist whatsoever but I also don't believe that Islam and Western civilization is truly compatible and if the US whom is 10X bigger than Canada and couldn't possibly vet all these Syrian refugees -then how could Canada and at a much greater and faster number than Uncle Sam? Please do splain! Yes I'm calling BS on that one. Islamification has worked out really well in Germany, England, France, Holland and everywhere else mass immigration has occurred. I'm calling a spade a spade but label me as you wish.

The problem with Canadians is that we suffer from small dick syndrome whereby we feel the need to constantly bash the Americans and falsely believe that we have a far superior political system when in reality, nothing could be farther from the truth. I blame this on our lefty educational system where teachers feel the need to impose/brainwash their political views on our youth to impose there liberal, self serving union agenda. Luckily for me I called the US and Europe home for many years and left my rose colored glasses back at the igloo.

As far as Trump being a disaster for President -not all would agree -except the asshole media which is 98% Lefty to begin with and can't be trusted. Journalism is no longer about fact based reporting but rather about sensationalism and shock value. Don't let the facts stand in the way of a good story after all. There is no more integrity or honesty with the news as it has all become show business competing for ratings and yes frankly it has morphed into fake news.

Complain as you will about Trump but had Crooked Hillary had won George Soros would be living in the white house by now barking orders and the Clinton Foundation would be Billions more flush by selling more government access -oops I mean speeches.

@canadiancomments This: "Based on the facts and only the facts, Mr. Trump is widely seen as being a disaster as a President, both locally and abroad." should read: "Based on opinion and only opinion, Mr. Trump is widely seen as being a disaster as a President, both locally and abroad." The facts actually say the opposite

Well,

I'd have rather seen qwertyfla retract his post and MDarringer write a nice apology to THE STEVE. But that personal growth will have to wait for another thread. I truly believe that people can change... if they want to.

Qwertyfla - If you or anyone else posts statements about there being too many of "those people" from "that place" who "believe in that" then they are a racist. Go look it up in the dictionary. It just stands to reason. Maybe you should have a long conversation with yourself and your loved ones if this is not the person you want to be. If you don't want to be seen as a racist, then by all means change how you think about people and what you post.

MDarringer: - If you look beyond FOX NEWS /Alt Right websites and review Trump's current approval numbers (facts) in the honeymoon period of his presidency, he is floating between 38%-43% approval ratings among AMERICANS. Forget what I think. That mark in any book is a F- Fail. Putting all the DOJ investigations aside (which may take him down/make him resign) very hard to do, the constant stream of lies/alternative facts from the WH, the hateful, vengeful + crazy tweets, his constant attacking of the press, managing by executive order instead of getting bills passed in Congress etc, insulting world leaders in person/on phone/in the press + pushing them too! By any measure (just pick one) he is not performing close to what was expected by US voters even with 2 houses controlled by the GOP. But believe what you like. You like the guy and I get that. Just don't say it is based on facts.
