Germany Now Says Audi A7 And A8 Diesel Models Were Also Cheating On Emissions Tests

Emissions cheating software is reported to have been found in Audi A7 and A8 models, following the Volkswagen Group Dieselgate emissions scandal of 2015 and 2016.

The software has been found to halve the amount of nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions until the steering wheel is turned more than 15deg, according to the German Transport Ministry.

The Ministry has given Audi ten days to come up with a solution to the issue and a plan to refit the cars. Audi had already launched a recall for the 24,000 cars on Thursday. The affected A7 and A8 examples were built between 2009 and 2013, and around 14,000 of these were sold in Germany.

Fortunately Audi already has a fix, and sales won't be affected thanks to the fact that Audi's high reliability and its reputation are untarnishable.

Wait till the Germany authorities uncover Daimler's emission cheat device. I'm sure it'll be a bigger story than this isolated case.

Now, I am a fan of Audi, but you my friend take the cake. I have 3 Audi's in the family and one GTI. Last year I sadly sold back my A3 TDI, but was happy with the check. VAG tried to get over and go caught. They did make up for it for the most part, but even some people got screwed. Don't down play it! Even if you love them or work for them, doing so hurts the chances of obtaining the public's trust again.

Nonsense - Audi was described by Consumer Reports as a sinkhole of service problems. Personally - I have known several family members who I recommended NOT to buy Audi - who did - to their regret. My sister in law had an A6 that spent more time in the service department in its first two years - than at her house. (And it did not always work at her house either). Another had multiple engine and transmission failures. For a product that the company is trying to sell at the high end - but is really second tier luxury (with Buick, Volvo, Lincoln and now Genesis) - You are better off buying an old English Roadster - and least you KNEW that would happen ahead of time!

While the Audi Q5 I bought to replace my TDI Passat was used, I'm not overly impressed with it. Frankly, I'm looking forward to the upcoming new Tiguan. In many ways my VWs have been a better car than this Audi. And I'm not referring to anything in particular mechanical. I haven't had any issues (other than excessive oil consumption), but there's so many little things that VW actually does better.

Very clever on Audi's part! Dishonest but clever!

Geez, the scandal that never ends. The news isn't surprising as they've already been caught and had to buy back or fix the 3.0 TDI engines in the Q7, Cayenne, etc. And the A6 and A7 also use those engines. "Truth in Engineering" indeed.
