China Halts Issuing EV Production Permits Fearing Glut Of New Models

China plans to halt issuing permits to produce electric vehicles because of concern additional approvals may lead to a glut in the world’s biggest auto market, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The National Development and Reform Commission, which oversees new investments in the auto industry, wants to evaluate the program after handing out 15 production licenses since March 2016, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions aren’t public. A suspension of new permits may delay plans by companies such as Internet entrepreneur William Li’s NIO and Jia Yueting-backed LeEco’s electric-car unit that have said they intend to apply.

Um, for those who aren't aware of this, Chinese authorities have a long-standing and well-earned reputation for exerting extreme and rigid controls over their population. They do so with the belief that such controls will bring about their desired outcomes. Typically, the authorities' desired outcomes do not match the publicly stated reasons for the controls they impose.

The truth and breitbart are on opposite sides tbf but considering it's a car website and people are already so sensitive perhaps bringing in extreme political views, especially with such a divisive political atmosphere in the US for example, is an invitation for disaster. But carry one, I'm just saying if we find out GermanNut has strong political views, fascist for example - would make sense, this site is going to need constant regulation and oversight.

MDarringer: I agree with your statement posted on 6/6/2017 7:08:13 PM!

The Democratic party does indeed have a long history of not being honest with The People. Spin, secrecy, and outright lies is business as usual for The Party. Even flippant remarks with respect to blatant violations of law and basic human rights, like when President Obama said on TV "We tortured some folks" (referring to torturing captives at Gitmo), spoken using the same dismissive, casual tone of voice as though he was talking about high-school kids toilet-papering someone's house. Your statements are correct, and in my mind, they highlight despicable behavior!

On this same topic, can you tell me, with a straight face, that the Republican party doesn't do this? Can you honestly say they're open, honest, transparent? Especially in light of events leading up to, and since the last election? Because if you can, Kelly Conway could sure use your help to bolster her credibility and ratings.

This post reflects the ugly truth that both ardent Democrats ***AND*** ardent Republicans hate to have articulated. I'm sure it'll inspire some reader anger, especially amongst holders of "us or them" mentality.

@TheSteve both parties do dishonest things, but in my view, the Democrats are hell bent to fuck over the nation way more than the Republicans could ever dream of.

If nothing else, I will not consider a Democrat as long as their goal is the Islamification (sic) of America through unchecked, and unvetted immigration.
