Is Subaru FINALLY Going To Give Bite To Go Along With The Bark Of The BRZ TS?

If it were possible for a car to be jealous of its siblings, it's hard not to imagine the Subaru BRZ would have some beef with the WRX and STI. The two turbo Subies have long histories, large fanbases, and represent the performance peak of the Subaru lineup's all-wheel-drive-all-the-time philosophy. The BRZ, on the other hand, is the black sheep of the family—a Toyota crossbreed whose front wheels have no role but to steer the lightweight car, saddled with a naturally-aspirated boxer-four packing the torque of a Club Cadet.

But after years of staring covetously at the STI fanboys who swarmed showrooms to ogle the latest motorsports-division-tuned Imprezas, it's finally the BRZ's chance to known the warm embrace of the carmaker's Subaru Tecnica International division.

Nope. Rumor has it that this is just the previously unreleased Japanese model with NO force induction.

With the 86/BRZ platform this old/late in the production cycle. They desperately need a NEW powerplant with at least more horsepower than my lawnmower. 200 is just sad nowadays.

The interior also desperately need an update. It's decidedly cheap.

Highly doubt it, most likely some boy racer parts thrown on with no performance improvements.

Beefier tires cure the "instant-slide" handing dynamics of the BRZ/GT86, but ironically they do not make the vehicle faster around the track. The vehicle needs someone that understands suspension tuning to cure it of its drift-o-matic antics and throw on another 100 horsepower.

Subaru can just as well do whatever they want these days even if it doesn't make any sense or continues to look horrible. Look at their U.S. sales numbers which are the envy of pretty much everybody else. I bet they are sitting on piles of cash.

Except with the BRZ with sales in the toilet.
