IIHS Study Finds That Most Midsized SUV Headlights Are Poor

A new study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety shows that only two midsize SUV's out of 37 were available with "good"-rated headlights.

This is the fourth group of vehicles that IIHS has tested and evaluated since it began rating headlights in 2016. The recently adopted headlight ratings by the IIHS have resulted in less models being awarded as an IIHS Top Safety Pick+ as headlights must rate in the "good" or "acceptable" range to be nominated.

IIHS gave good or acceptable ratings to just 14 of the 37 midsize SUV models in its most recent study, leaving 23 models in the "marginal" or "poor" ranges.

The IIHS is always trumping up something to justify higher insurance rates. The IIHS is owned by the Insurance industry so it is (1) not impartial, (2) has a major conflict of interest, and (3) is anti-consumerist.
