Tesla May Target Sub 2 Second 0-60 Time For Upcoming Roadster
In continuation of Tesla referencing the movie ‘Spaceballs’ for its performance modes, like ‘Ludicrous mode’, CEO Elon Musk said that the automaker is reserving the ‘Maximum Plaid’ mode for the next generation Tesla Roadster.

Now Musk is hinting at just how quick Maximum Plaid could be right off the production line.

Tesla already has the ‘Quickest Production Car in the World’ title with the Model S P100D Ludicrous.

I think you're comfusing this with a NIO EP9.

The Model S weighs 4,469-4,941 lbs, what makes you think this will be 5,000? I think it will weigh 3,000-3,500 lbs with the same powertrain and better aerodynamics.

It just might. CD, weight, power, rolling resistance. Get them in the right amounts and yes it just might go 0-60mph in under 2 sec. But from what I recall it is hard to make a sports car with similar drag (CD) figures to a sedan. But being an EV, it won't be covered in air inlets / exhaust vents like an Aventador. Time will tell.

Teslas are not designed for maximum speed but acceleration. I'm not even sure if the top speed would hit 200 on the Roadster, but the 0-60 should be faster than any other car and it will be far more nimble than the S or 3.

Also the NIO EP9 broke the record on the Nurburgring, showing that an EV can be fast and handle amazingly well. Proportions on the Roadster should be similar to the EP9.

Tesla does not have anything remotely as advanced or sophisticated as the NIO EP9 so I wouldn't even dare compare any Tesla to the NIO EP9.

Funny you say that since the P100D has a faster 0-60 time and seats up to 7 people, and has two trunks, and more range.

Getting an electric car to go fast is beyond easy given torque delivery.

LOL. Fast in a straight line but unable to turn or brake. Targeted lap time on the Nordshliefe will be 8:30.

LOL Reminds me of the Rimac Concept One, fast in a straight line. Example in point, Richard Hammond's crash.
