Uber Out Of Control: Board Member Resigns After Comment During Meeting To Address Sexism
TPG Capital co-founder David Bonderman has resigned from the board of Uber Technologies Inc. after uttering a sexist comment during a meeting intended to address rampant internal gender bias.SAZ

The billionaire co-founder of the private equity firm apologized for cracking a joke during a charged company-wide meeting to discuss sweeping changes meant to curb discrimination and other cultural problems. Let me guess - AutoSpies readers will side with this fossil, and call anyone put off by his idiotic remark a "snowflake".

Liberals and feminazis are perpetually outraged at something which shows lack of intelligence and intolerance of people. So he made a comment. Big deal.

So we should be tolerant of sexism? What next, racism? UBER is signing their own death warrant with these epic cultural mistakes.

@SanJoseDriver Are you advocating that we should be perpetually enraged over trivialities?

@MB - Ideally not, but a triviality to one might be more significant to another and it also depends on the context. The optics are really bad with uber right now, if there weren't dozens of reports on the toxic culture there then I'm sure this would slide and people would not have thought twice about this comment (I don't think it was intentionally malicious). Given their current situation, board members and execs absolutely cannot say sh** like this. Build up some equity and eventually they'll get some benefit-of-the-doubt back.

@SanJoseDriver I stopped reading when you said "optics" for fear that more cliches and cliched reasoning would follow.

It is a big deal, he was at an Uber board meeting and interrupted Arianna Huffington, a board member, while she was speaking about the importance of having at least one women on a company's board. Her point was that, having at least one women increases the chances of getting a second a women on the same board of executives. So his comments were not only reckless and offensive in context, they really ended up proving the point she was trying to make. He deserved to be fired.

So, Bonderman said that women are more likely to talk than men. That's just a fact. Anyone who is offended his observation of reality should apologize to all humankind for being overly sensitive.

Women are uninstalling the app left and right and using Lyft instead (at least in SV).. probably not a good idea to piss off half of your customer base. The response would be less severe if it were not for all of the other reports related to uber.

Stereotypes are based on reality. Just like bigots are stereotypically uneducated and insecure. Or how misogynistic morons tend to miss their Mommies because they often grew up with out one, or any parents, or in an economically-disadvantaged setting where they experienced abuse from said parents. But I don't want to generalise or stereotype too much. Might upset some sensitive souls. Damn snowflakes.

This is exactly the problems with today's PC clusterfuck world. You can't say anything these days without offending someone -especially the hairdressers on this board.

How sad that we can't crack jokes anymore about ourselves or each other. Comedy and humor are DEAD. When was the last time anyone heard a good joke? Exactly because nobody tells them anymore for fear of being labelled by the left who started all this shit in the first place. If you didn't support Obama you were racist. If you didn't support Hillary you are sexist. Textbook divide and conquer shenanigans. Stop the madness!
