There's a couple things that General Motors still knows how to do:

1. Create and build amazing prototypes that never see the light of day on a production line; and,

2. Build staggeringly good high-performance machines.

Case in point: The C7 Chevrolet Corvette is a brilliant, brilliant machine. The all-new Camaro is a blast as well.

While we've been pretty blown away with the vivacious ZL1, there's something to be said for the even wilder ZL1 1LE. Those three characters make all the difference and that's because it's even more hardcore and bananas over the standard ZL1. Think of it as the Porsche 911 GT3 variant. It's more focused than before and track oriented.

It's only a matter of time before Chevrolet releases its Nürburgring lap time, which serves as the performance car benchmark. GM knows this is a big deal, hence why the company teased the ZL1 1LE's time via the clip below.

Dollar for dollar no better bang (or HP) for the buck than Ameri-CAN muscle!

It truly is amazing how much performance you get for very little in the Mustang and Camaro.

I've had great fun flogging a base V6 automatic Mustang at the track and it's one planted and predictable platform. Fast through the corners. The 5.0 is even better and the GT350 is better still.

The base Camaro is also truly a delight to fling at a track and then as you go up the ladder it gets better and better like the Mustang. I cannot wait to drive a ZL1.

The truly terrible muscle car is the Challenger which is ponderous and stumbling around a track.
