TEASED! So, J.B. Smoove, Spiderman And The All-New Audi A8 Walk Into A Bar...
Audi's press release follows:

New Audi A8 to Make Its Debut in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’

  • ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ marks first appearance of the luxury sedan
  • Audi produced exclusive digital content for Spider-Man fans leading up to film release
  • Featured models include the all-new Audi A8, Audi R8 V10 Spyder and Audi TTS Roadster

HERNDON, Virginia – Movie fans worldwide will get an exclusive first look at the new Audi A8. The luxury sedan can be seen for the first time on-screen with the debut of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ in US theaters on July 7.

Making its film debut, the Audi A8 features the latest in future Audi AI technology, including the Audi AI traffic jam pilot used by ‘Happy Hogan’ while chauffeuring ‘Peter Parker’ (Tom Holland). While driving, ‘Happy’ takes his hands off the steering wheel and, like magic, it continues to turn all on its own. Under certain conditions, Audi AI traffic jam pilot will allow the A8 to take over the task of driving for short periods of time when the feature is activated.

As part of the partnership, Audi released exclusive content including a digital short titled “Driver’s Test,” audi.us/SpiderMan featuring actor Tom Holland and comedian J.B. Smoove. The short follows Peter Parker as he prepares to take his driver’s test and J.B. Smoove, the classically naive instructor. While driving an Audi prototype, Peter notices a bank robbery in progress and uses Audi AI technology to help him fight crime, leaving the instructor none the wiser of Spidey’s quick exit.

Back on the big screen, Audi is a familiar brand to this franchise’s audience. This film will feature additional Audi models including ‘Tony Stark’ in the well-known Audi R8 V10 Spyder – a vehicle recognized for its sleek design, incomparable technology and trusted performance. The Audi TTS Roadster also makes a guest appearance with Peter Parker behind the wheel.

“With ‘Spiderman-Man: Homecoming’ and our continued partnership with Marvel, we have the opportunity to reach the next generation of both superheroes and innovators,” said Loren Angelo, Vice President of Marketing, Audi of America. “At Audi, we are constantly redefining what superpowers are through our vehicles and this partnership and platform provide an organic way for us to showcase select current and future Audi Intelligent Technologies to that next generation audience that will be behind the wheel of our next generation models.”

Even Super Heroes need to take their driver's test. But when Peter Parker goes to get his license, he gets more than he bargained for. Catch Spider-Man: Homecoming in theaters 7.7.17.

I can't wait to see the new Audi A8! Not to say that there is a low bar, but with the sucky BMW 7-series, the ugly Lexus LS500, and the super-ugly last gen A8 - if the car is good looking, luxuriously appointed, and priced right, Audi should have a hit on their hands.

One area where Audi has Mercedes beat is in the "virtual cockpit". Can't wait.

Sorry - but the S-class is still the favorite of this group - and until Audi produces an A8 that looks less like an A4 - the Mercedes will prevail.

The problem is - Audi styles its small cars first - and then makes the rest look like them. Mercedes styling starts at the top - with the S class first.

Tom, that's not true for this new A8. This car is the first for the new designer Marc Lichte.

@GeorgeD And the barely disguised prototypes show a new A8 with the same proportions and styling as the current A8. There is no gorgeous surprise awaiting.

Just for the record, I have to point out the all-new 7-Series isn't "sucky."

I thoroughly enjoyed it though I will be the first to admit its styling is a snoozefest. Personally, I'd be hard pressed to pick the S-Class over it. But then again, the S-Class is also a brilliant, brilliant machine.

LS will be interesting because its styling is extreme and, frankly, if it drives like the all-new LC Lexus that luxe barge is going to be challenging everyone, again.

I agree that Audi could have a massive hit on its hands that everyone is currently underestimating. The technology on board the A8 will be cutting edge. The Audi A8 will be the world's first Level III automated vehicle. The Audi AI Traffic Jam Pilot will be revolutionary.

The design is already far sleeker than the current A8 and as we saw the technology leads the pack. With Audi's interiors long known to be amongst the most luxurious and well-appointed in the industry, the quality will be top notch.

We will have a sleek, luxurious and technology-loaded flagship from Audi and that is exactly what buyers in this segment are looking for.

I think we all know there's not going to be anything surprising here in terms of design. This is a tough segment to crack, the A8 has been the perpetual 'also ran' here since its inception and that's not going to be an easy situation to rectify. I'm not as interested in the autonomous driving as I am in the power trains, if they brought out an all-electric version with the autonomous tech which could compete with Tesla then I think they would have a better chance of making an impact in terms of sales.

A lot of people are interested in the autonomous driving so it's smart of Audi to be on the cutting edge of that technology. Regarding, all-electric vehicles Audi has confirmed it will release an all-electric vehicle next year and a second all-electric model in 2019 so it is making significant progress on that front as well. Don't forget the A3 e-Tron is currently available in the U.S. and is all-electric.

Correction the A3 e-Tron is a hybrid, but as stated above Audi will have two fully-electric vehicles on sale by 2019.
