Porsche Says in 6 Years Half Of Their Production Will Be Electric Vehicles
It wasn’t long ago that Porsche claimed all-electric powertrains didn’t offer enough performance to reach the level that their customers expect from the premium German brand.

As their work on their first all-electric vehicle progresses, they are now changing their view on the technology and CEO Oliver Blume now says that he expects half of Porsche’s production to be electric by 2023.

The Mission E will be Porsche’s first all-electric vehicle and it is planned to enter production in 2019.

Last year, Blume said that they were planning for an annual production of 20,000 units for the new vehicle. It’s a significant volume for the German automaker considering they delivered just over 230,000 vehicles worldwide last year across its entire lineup.

If they make something that looks like that pure EV concept then bring it on

That's what they believe. Let's see what actually happens. Remember when the Obama administration was making bold statements on how quickly EVs will be adopted in the US, and they weren't?

Porsche should stop saying and start doing.

And in 6 years, half the Porsche base of buyers will be GONE elsewhere.

I don't need to buy a $$$ Porsche to drive what essentially would be a German golf cart.

I would expect that some combination of ICE and Electric propulsion would be the obvious choice for performance vehicles. It would allow smaller Turbo ICE engines with the immediate power of an Electric motor taking up the "Turbo lag" - giving more linear performance from a stop. AND it is a way to improve fuel efficiency as well. I am not saying it would turn Porsches into economoy cars - they would use it to increase performance.

However - I also believe that "all-electric" Porsches will not be the only offerings and will not take up half of production "UNLESS" more European countries and cities mandate it.

Clearly with diesel days numbered in Europe, EV is being accelerated.
Porsche must be planning to borrow heavy from VW/Audi. Like an eGolf with 9xx styling.
Will be in the rearview of Tesla for the foreseeable future.
