Ford May Halt Focus Production For a Full Year
ord has plans to halt production of the compact Focus — a one-time juggernaut of a model — for an entire year. But wouldn’t you rather talk about the upcoming Ranger and Bronco?

Of course you would. You’d rather buy one, too, if only the resurrected nameplates were already on lots. Back in 2002, when Limp Bizkit was still on the charts and frosted tips hadn’t entirely disappeared from the hair scene, Ford unloaded 243,199 Focus cars to U.S. buyers. Compare that to the first five months of 2017, where 67,146 Foci left dealer lots in a marketplace where passenger car sales are falling like Brent crude prices in 2014.

The Focus isn't selling because it's an outdated product. It has far less to do with gas prices or the fall of the sedan. The Civic and Corolla still sell well. The current Focus is old and should have been replaced by now, but when it debuted, it was a Hail Mary reskin of the previous Focus that was itself long in tooth. Ford sold the illusion quite well, but there's no way anyone who would compare it with a Civic would buy the Focus.

Dated?? Have you ever actually looked under a Corolla?? A Focus MkI has a more advanced chassis. The car, although dated, still has excellent chassis dynamics. And a Civic?? Sorry, not a fan of Gundam/Transformers/Power Rangers styling. Just my.02.

I guess if you need a soulless transportation appliance, so be it.

And one more thing, Aspy11..perception isn't everything. I have owned nothing but Ford products since 1980. With the exception of a dropped valve in my first new Mustang Turbo back in 1982, every single one has given me excellent service. Every. Single. One.
