BREAKING: All-new Tesla Model 3 Will Be In Customer Hands By...
This weekend's news cycle was dominated by people making provocative tweets. If you are in the automotive industry, however, you're a bit more concerned with what Elon Musk has to say rather than the president body slamming a CNN-faced Vince McMahon.

And that's because he noted earlier that Sunday would bring news about the all-new Model 3, which is arguably one of the most eagerly anticipated automotive releases, ever.

So, what's the news?

According to Musk, the first production Model 3 will be completed by this upcoming Friday. And, the first 30 customers of the all-new Model 3 will receive their cars at a handover party on July 28.

From there production will ramp up as follows:

- 100 cars in August;
- 1,500 cars in September; and,
- 20,000 cars in December

What do YOU make of the news, Spies?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the first production model of the hotly anticipated Model 3, the company’s attempt to bring an electric car to the masses, is expected on Friday. The first 30 Model 3 customers will receive their new Teslas on the 28th at a handover party, according to a second tweet from Musk. Production is then expected to grow exponentially: 100 cars in August, more than 1,500 by September, and then 20,000 per month by December.

News of SN1 (Serial Number 1) came in a tweet on Sunday night...

So, let's parse this..

- 100 cars in August;
(100 prototypes will be produced to conduct the first SIGNIFICANT road testing - these will go to Tesla engineers masquerading as real customers.

- 1,500 cars in September;
(Whether testing works out or not, more of these baby's will be rolling out - we can fix 'em later).

- 20,000 cars in December
(why not churn 'em out? Its not a big deal to flatbed 20,000 cars around the country to our inconveniently located (unless you live in CA) Tesla service centers for days of post-delivery repair).

Tesla = 'Quality is Job One'

They already produced about 100 release candidates that have been tested for months and benchmarked against a BMW 328i.

What "2 years of delays" ? There are morons, and then there's you BobM. You can't help but keep making stuffs up. Tesla never even promised delivery before end of this year. All people who claimed the Model 3 would be late now have to eat their words. You should too.

Musk also said that the car would sell for #35,000 - but the average sale is now predicted to be $42,000. Add in that , the likelyhood that Tesla will reach the 200,000th sale this year - and you will not get the full $7500 tax deduction after that

@TomM: you only got half the facts correct. Let the tax expert mre30 - who's also a self-proclaimed Tesla expert - explain to you the details of the federal tax rebate phase-out. Hint: full credit still apply for one quarter after the quarter in which 200K is reached.

The base price is still $35k, there will be options available (like any other car)... better wheels, larger battery, AWD, Autopilot, etc. Average selling price is expected to be around $42k, but that does not mean you cannot buy a base version for $35k that has 0-60 of 5.6 seconds, 215+ miles of range, and autopilot safety-only features.

That was an internal communication to vendors so that they can be ready to supply enough parts in a best-case scenario, those expectations were never set with investors.

@BobM: you're an old fool who can't tell the difference between facts and stuffs made up based on slivers of facts taken out of context.

As a reservation holder, this is what I get from Tesla and is what I count on "Your Model 3 was reserved on 3/31/2016. Deliveries will begin in late 2017. You'll be invited to configure based on the date of your reservation".

Everything else is speculation and in your case it's simply a lie.

Let’s just point out that Tesla missed their targets again. As recently as March, Musk had promised to hit a weekly run-rate of 1000 by the end of July. Turns out they will build no more than 50 cars per week this month and reach four digits in October at the earliest. Oddly, the goal for December remains unchanged. Did you just make that up or pull that stat from Breibart news? Musk never promised a weekly run rate of 1000 by the end of July, only:

1.) The best case, most optimistic, if everything goes flawlessly, estimate for the start of Model 3 production was July.
2.) 5,000 cars per week by the end of 2017
3.) 10,000 cars per week by the end of 2018

I actually listen to the investor briefings, so unless you have actual evidence that he said that, let's stick to reality.

Actually I can, here is the official investor letter:

"Simultaneously, preparations at our production facilities are on track to support the ramp of Model 3 production to 5,000 vehicles per week at some point in 2017, and to 10,000 vehicles per week at some point in 2018."

You can also listen to the whole audio online on the Tesla investor website.

Now let's see if you can find an official Tesla communication to investors with the 100k unit figure.

Funny how certain individuals on this site are so quick to let their political views fly. This "moonbat" is an immigrant. He doesn't want paid healthcare for himself and his family, exactly what the conservatives say they don't want for the American people. He is a self-made billionaire, living the American dream, and yet because he sells electric cars now everyone of his supporters must be a moonbat or a libtard. Going to be an interesting couple of years going forward.
