Volvo Aims Sights Squarely On Tesla - All New Models To Be Electrified Starting 2019
Eager to cement its position as a leader in the industry, Volvo has announced that every new vehicle it launches from 2019 will have an electric motor.

In a statement, the Swedish automaker revealed that between 2019 and 2021, it will launch five fully-electric cars, two of which will come from the company’s performance division, Polestar. These models will then be supplemented by a selection of petrol and diesel plug-in hybrid and mild-hybrid vehicles with 48-volt power supplies.

I wish every single EV competitor, including Tesla, outrageous success!

I also wish for the electrical power generating infrastructure to become a lot cleaner, as we in North America get about 2/3 of our electricity from burning stuff such as coal, natural gas, and even garbage.

So much for my wishes :-(

The reality is that if we want EVs to replace ICE, we still have a long way to go. I don't know how much real EV demand there is, and whether there is sufficient demand to consume all the EV competitors' products that are being promised to us.

It's a topic worth following, though.

It's nice to Volvo setting its sights low.

Tick...tock....

Tesla does not use much (any?) proprietary technology so no one should be surprised. That is one reason why the Tesla stock run-up is so suprising. Tesla does not have a monopoly like Amazon or Facebook/Instagram. Tesla makes a commodity product - motor vehicles - which will be subject to competitive forces of the marketplace. Tesla has not demonstrated it can generate profits doing so.

The end is near. The Tesla confidence game is in its last quarter perhaps. Once the confidence is gone, the herd will move on.
