Yay! Throw batteries into boring Audis and pretend we are with it! This is laughable.

The technologies showcased by the new 2018 Audi A8 will be filtered down to the rest of the Audi range. Most importantly, this means that Audi as a brand will remain on the cutting edge of technological innovation.

Note: Subject says "5 New Models", but article says "new cars". The distinction is that most of the new releases will just be updates to existing models.

All "new" cars are simply updates of existing models. THere is no such thing as a totally new Platform - even with the introduction of specialized ones for electric vehicles (Like the Bolt) - they still have LOTS of parts in common with prior platforms. Even the introduction of new TYPES of vehicles are rarely totally new - the MiniVan- as different as it was - was based on an existing car platform. Engines and Transmissions, rear ends, 4x4 systems, brakes, seats, wheels, even door handles and the Radio/media systems are carried over. Ford has survived for decades basically using 3 different oil filters for most of their engines. The temperature control unit is another thing that is likely to be re-used for a long time. There wasn't much new in the basic rear view mirror - until Cadillac paired it with video cameras.

In that context - any car that is not exactly the same as the previous model is actually new. AND most manufacturers -when they do their mid-cycle refresh make numerous changed - even if most cannot be seen. The "new" carries back to the early days of General Motors when they did change the styles of the cars EVERY YEAR even if they did not change the "platform" as often - and claiming "new" is a way to get people into the showroom to see the new stuff. ANd there are LOTS of people who fall for this scam -which costs them lots more in depreciation costs than if they kept a car for a long time.
