VIDEO: UNBOXED! See What The Jaguar E-Pace Is REALLY Like For The FIRST Time
While Jaguar was happy to unveil the all-new E-Pace sport-utility with a bit of a splash, we're more concerned about the meat and potatoes of this all-new SUV.
In case you missed it, Jaguar revealed the E-Pace and had the vehicle do a barrel roll stunt to set a Guiness World Record.
Having said that, our friends across the pond had access to the E-Pace and were able to put a presenter in the vehicle and go through the details. If you're thinking of cross-shopping this against the likes of an Audi Q3, BMW X1 or Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, you'll want to scope out this clip.
The all-new Jaguar E-Pace sits below the F-Pace in the range as a key rival to Audi Q3, BMW X1 and Mercedes GLA. Rachel Burgess takes an in-depth and exclusive first look.

Apparently the Amish love the E Pace.

Very attractive car inside out, and a lot more masculine than the German counterparts (X1, Q3, GLC). If I were in the market for a gas CUV, I would seriously consider the E-Pace. I'm am not fond of the F-Pace with its low roof line but the low roof seems to work well for the smaller E-Pace.
Many people cite reliability as a weak point of Jaguar car. Having an XJ for over 10 years with more than 100K miles (daily driver, still in service), I disagree - at least in my case as it's more reliable than my previous BMW 325i and MB ML500 at much lower mileage.
Minor gripes: (1) tight rear quarter - which is common in vehicle this size, and (2) a higher spec V6 to go head to head with the Macan S/Turbo.
And a big question for small cross-overs in general: why don't they make sliding rear seats to provide a compromise between cargo space and rear seat room ? For normal use, the cargo space would most likely be empty and the rear seats/bench can be in their farthest position to provide interior room and comfort. When needed, the seats can be moved forward to allow more cargo space. The gap created when the seats are moved up can easily be covered with a strong plastic flap.

I think you mean GLA as a competitor.

Yes I meant the GLC even though it's slightly larger. The GLA is a funky little CUV which I don't think belong in this group.

Really do not understand these micro SUVs. They provide next to no utility, and are definitely a single chick car at best. Another glorified hatchback

You said it yourself: "Another glorified hatchback"
Manufacturers have figured out that if you make a chunky-looking hatchback and call it a crossover, you strike gold.
It's marketing.
The Chevy Trax--as inferior as it is to the Sonic--outsells it. I suspect the Ecosport will easily sell more than the Fiesta. The coming TRoc will likely sell more than the Golf in the USA. The Jeep Renegade could have been a conventional Dodge hatchback, but styled like a Jeep and marketed as one, it's an undeniable hit.

While the GLA IS a glorified hatchback based on a FWD architecture (see https://www.mbca.org/node/7297961), the E-Pace (and the larger F-Pace) is designed as a proper cross-over with AWD (RWD biased), similar to the GLC. There's more to a vehicle than just dimensions and body style.

Actually the E Pace has a LOT in common with the Range Rover Evoque which is essentially a Ford Escape/Kuga under the metal.

There are faint lineages between the modern E-Pace and the archaic Ford C1 platform - but you'll need a lot more inside information than from Wiki to know. Implying that the E-Pace and its bigger relatives F-Pace and the Evoque would drive like a Ford Range just goes to show that you don't know much about car. Have you even driven the Ranger and the Evoque to know the differences ?
And what does it have anything to do with the E-Pace not being a hatchback ?

It's not for me, but I like the look of it compared to the competitors in this segment.
