RECALL ALERT: FCA Has Issues With 1.33 MILLION Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep Vehicles In TWO Campaigns
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV said on Friday it is recalling 1.33 million vehicles worldwide in two separate campaigns for potential fire risks and inadvertent airbag deployments.

The Italian-American automaker said it is recalling about 770,000 sport utility vehicles because of a wiring issue that may lead to inadvertent deployment of the driver-side air bag and is linked to reports of five related minor injuries, but no crashes...

...The automaker is also recalling 565,000 vehicles to replace their alternators because of fire risks. The company said hot ambient temperatures could lead to premature diode wear, may result in a burning odor or smoke, could impact the anti-lock braking system or lead to engine stalls...

GM, Toyota, MB, Honda and now FAC - the last three all involve fire risks. Shouldn't these major automakers with hundreds of cumulative years of experience figure out how to make safe cars already? I notice a peculiar lack of comments on these recalls from the avid Autospies readers. No one owns any of the cars affected? The total number from MB, Honda and FCA now reaches 4.5 million units.

Must be either a captive audience or a forgiving bunch.

Or more likely a resignation that recalls happen and bitching about it incessantly is pointless.

More disturbing is the latest op ed in the latest issue of Road and Track Magazine regarding Alfa Romeo. It is very disheartening to read. However it appears FCA has to face some hard facts. However what I cannot understand is that this kind of issue is happening with the full back drop of FCA corporate electronic management systems. If there have been not the same issue say in a Dodge Hellcat with 700 plus hp why in the hell is this happening with the Giulia. This seems to be an engine management problem. The four cylinder engines are having this issue as well. If Alfa were owned by Fiat of 25 years ago or when Alfa was a stand alone company back in the 60's and early 70's I could understand. But Alfa is part of a corporate auto giant that has the technology available. I can tell you that none of my Fiats have ever had anything like engine management issues that Alfa is having. The 4C has not had these issues either. Maserati has not had these kinds of issues. How could FCA get Alfa so wrong after investing over 5 Billion bucks into it. I simply don't get it!!
