Lexus Aims High With The LC F - Will MATCH Performance Of Nissan GT-R Nismo and Mercedes-AMG GT.
The impending Lexus LC F is allegedly on track for the 2019 model year and pinned to rival the likes of the Nissan GT-R Nismo and Mercedes-AMG GT.

Japanese website Best Car Web says that the LC F will look to match the performance of Nissan’s most-potent GT-R variant but also offer the luxury and refinement you’d expect from a car like the BMW M6 and Mercedes-AMG GT. If true, Lexus will have its work cut out in the coming 12 months or so.

If they want to go that route they should have just kept the LFA in the line up and did 500 cars a year or so. I read a review of the LC and it is a ho hum execution with bad infotainment tech.

Lexus would have to perform a miracle to lose the amount of weight it would need to be competitive with GT-R and AMG-GT. Seriously. Beefed up suspension, larger wheels and tires, larger engine will all work against it from a perspective of weight. Not to mention the ridiculous add-ons on the car in the article photo. Even if it is decontented, with fewer luxury items and no back seats, that's still a tough endeavor to drop the amount of baggage it will need to. It already weighs 500 and 600 pounds more than the GT-R and AMG-GT, respectively.

I'd never buy one; I don't expect to ever see one on an actual road.

I guess the purpose of this vehicle is to give Lexus some performance credibility as a brand halo and break them free from their current owners which based on anecdotal observations in my neighborhood are all extremely old women.

Virtually no one sees the NSX or the AMG GT. Your point?

Its a pretend car. A one-off built by a team of people outside the rest of the company. A race car with a Lexus logo on the front. They don't intend to produce or sell more than a couple. Its sole purpose is to generate oohs and aahs from guys on websites like this one, or flipping through the pages of Road & Track. A pale imitation of the R8, i8 and NSX which are actually purchased by people and driven down streets and to restaurants.
