Lamborghini Reveals Details Of Upcoming models

The boss of Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, has revealed details about several new models from the Italian supercar maker including the possibility of a new SUV. First and foremost, Winkelmann has quashed rumours of a front-engined vehicle built along the lines of the original Espada, stating that “any future Lamborghini sports car needs to be both mid-engined and four-wheel drive.” Further, there will definitely be no production version of the retro designed Miura concept car, which was built to celebrate the history of Lamborghini. Instead, the company is looking towards the future for its latest designs.

The first all new model is likely to be performance SUV, which Winkelmann believes could fit well in Lamborghini’s lineup. The new vehicle, which could be introduced as early as 2008, will be based on the same platform as Audi’s upcoming Q5. In the immediate future, expect to see updated versions of Lamborghini’s current cars, including a roadster version of the LP640 due next year as well as a lightened Gallardo with rear-wheel drive. A Murciélago replacement is also on the cards, and is likely to feature a new V12 engine based on the smaller V10 from the Gallardo. If Lamborghini make an SUV, they will NEVER again be a bother to Ferrari. BIG MISTAKE. Audi improved the Italian Bull, and by releasing an SUV, the Germans will neuter it.

They already made an SUV- it was called the LM002, and Lamborghini produced it on its own accord, before Audi came along.

This wouldn't change the scenery at all.

lamborghini, please stick to coupes and roadsters as you have.

we dont need a lambo suv, we dont need a ferrari suv.
let porsche have it's fun with the cayenne.

the amount of money invested in designing, crafting, testing, and building this suv would not justify it. the position lamborghini has come to establish is that of exotic sports cars. there are no exotic suv's.

range rover is the only one that comes close, but it just doesn't fit the lambo moniker.

I guess if you have to compete with the X5 and the Cayanne, you hahve to compete with the X5 and the Cayanne!
