NAFTA Partners To Meet And Begin Renegotiating Trade Agreement
Trade representatives from Canada and Mexico agree with the Trump administration’s assertion that the two-decade-old North American Free Trade Agreement should be renegotiated.

But neither agree that NAFTA has been what President Donald Trump called “a job killer.”

Wednesday at the CAR Management Briefing Seminars, Colin Bird, minister-counselor, trade and economic policy assigned to the Canadian Embassy, and Francisco Sandoval-Saqui, a Mexican trade official working in the Ministry of the Economy, laid out their country’s agendas for NAFTA trade talks that are scheduled to begin Aug. 16 in Washington.

Mexico should also have to match our environmental & HS standards as well as this adds tremendous costs to manufacturing giving the beaners a tremendous unfair advantage against Canusa.

As far as being competitive against Asia -yeah right. I just got back from some Chinese factory tours and we are so screwed. Only full automation can beat China or lower cost jurisdictions but then QC suffers or you don't have the infrastructure (yet) to feed these factories.

Based on the opening statement from the US trade team this will not be a politicized negotiation. There were only standard asks and goals in the text released. Everyone will have to compromise on some positions and industries, but an agreeable deal will be reached by the 3 nations.
