Volkswagen Atlas Vs Honda Pilot - Which Is The King Of The Big SUVs?

Volkswagen Atlas Vs Honda Pilot - Which Is The King Of The Big SUVs?
There are other 3-row crossovers that are quite popular, such as the Chevy Suburban, Ford Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder or Toyota Highlander. However, it seems like Volkswagen deliberately targeted the Honda Pilot, which came out a little over a year ago.

Both are like magic tricks, offering more space than you would think imaginable in a car. But while the Pilot is cavernous, the Atlas is... What's a good word for bigger than cavernous? It's an Alladin's cave!

They probably meant Traverse.

The Pilot will last you 20 years so for those who like to change their car every 36 months, get the Atlas.

Indeed and if the Atlas is what someone truly wants, I'd say lease it but do not buy it.

I agree too - VW is much less reliable than Honda - and costlier to repair as well.

Hmm, Alladin should've been Aladdin.
I'm seeing quite a few Atlas' on the road and they look pretty good.
The $$ VW is putting towards marketing seems to be paying off. I see a lot of ad's and commercials for the Atlas.

I'm not sure how durable a 4,800 pound (probably 6,000 pounds fully loaded with people and gear) vehicle that is built off of a VW Golf architecture (what 4,000 pounds, tops?) will be after a few years of use.

While I hear that the Atlas is the tester's choice (Car and Driver at least), its probably better to just a Pilot.

Big boring box. 26-year-old engine. VW reliability. No thanks.

Despite all of that, VW should have offered a meaty top trim model. A sub-350hp V6 is quite disappointing in the top trim which starts at nearly $49k. OK, they've thrown-in some good tech features & they've shown how much they can stretch their modular platform & wrap it in a descent exterior, but a stronger engine would have really make the hole package worth raving about.

The Coyota Highlander rulez them both around here.

Lots of Pilots and MDX twins in my area. They last forever. Local service. You won't make the Jones's jealous, but you will retire better than they will. One caveat is that they are quite wide being based on the Honda minivan platform.
