Is Nissan Moving Upscale With The Next Gen Altima?
Nissan is planning a bit more elegance with the next-generation Altima, judging from spy photos snapped of the car in its final development.

The Altima is due for a redesign for 2018 and Nissan is hoping to capitalize on the midsize sedan's successful 2012-17 run.

Discernible through the camouflage are less rounded surfaces than the current Altima, and a more pronounced back side. Body sculpting appears to have traces of the Vmotion 2.0 concept car that Nissan showed at this year's Detroit auto show. Also recalling the Vmotion concept -- an aggressively enlarged front grille that takes the brand's signature front V-motion to a new level.

I really feel sorry for people who buy Nissans.

What about the GT-R?

Especially people who buy the GTR. The 911 and Z06 are simply better.

I can agree with that, even though the GT-R will smoke them in a straight line. The 911 is way ahead of the GTR especially since they only spent about $10 designing the interior.

The GTR is rudely expensive for a "Sentra". The GTR is a brilliant $50K car.

Going upscale or finally catching up?

Unless Nissan addresses the quality/durability/reliability issues, this Renault trash in Nissan drag will continue to embarrass.

Actually - Nissan produced a really really sweat 3.0 Liter V6 for years - however it has gone to the dogs since then - trying to compete with TVR at TVRs level of the past!

That 3.0L VQ Engine was a gem until they decided to bore it out to 3.5L and cheapen the construction. It is sad to see where Nissan has gone under the leadership of Renault. I still remember a 1998 Maxima I had with that Engine, and besides being a bit down on power it would compare well with any modern V6 in terms of refinement and power delivery.

I am not sure why people hate the Altima. I think it is a really good car for the price and segment.

Because compared the the Camry and Accord it is not as reliable or durable. It's always been the ugly duckling of the trio. It's also not anywhere near as refined as the Camry and Accord.
