BMW Z4 Concept Shot Revealed Ahead Of Pebble Beach Debut

BMW Z4 Concept Shot Revealed Ahead Of Pebble Beach Debut
BMW has offered another glimpse of its Z4 concept ahead of its reveal at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on 17 August.

A new preview image released on social media shows that the open-top concept will feature a long bonnet and a pair of rear butresses. The car's sleek design looks similar to that of the BMW Gina concept of 2008.

The shape will influence the design of the upcoming production Z4, due in 2019; however, that car is expected to feature a more conventional folding soft top, as seen on Z4 development cars.

Meh. Based on the camo'd spy shots, the production car won't look like this. Why bother with a concept at this point?

Somebody mixed up the photos - this is actually the 2009 Pontiac Solstice.

I'm trying to judge from the picture to see whether they're trying to mimic that terrible chintzy "diamond grill" that Mercedes uses on everything from an A-class to a S-class... if they are my message would be to please stop.

I understand that it's more cost-effective to build this together with the Supra but still, why? The Boxster pretty much has things sewn up in this segment, they aren't going to better that car dynamically, and MB has hinted at not continuing with the SLC / SLK. The TT is a golf in a prettier dress and the market is so small for these cars nowadays. Not sure if launching this car makes a lot of sense.

I have to say I hate it. It looks like this yellow Auto Bild rendering which has been out since May of last year: http://www.autobild.de/artikel/bmw-z4-z5-2018-infos-und-preis-8585207.html

my giess is that Toyota has exclusive rights to the coupe version, which will probably be over styled. This Z4 appears to be a snoozer

How much will it be dumbed down for production though? The BMW Future Luxury and Gran Lusso promised a gorgeous future, but we got an all-new version of the dismal past instead. The 8 Series concept is gorgeous, but the prototype looks borderline ungainly.

They seem to have nailed the front end, overall shape and angled side character lines, unlike the other 842 renderings which have been floating around for the last year+.

And how do you know this? Have you seen the final production car?

Geese....another 'angry' car. Just what we need. More anger.

BMW has an extremely long history of significantly watering down its concept cars to their eventual production models. This Z4 will be no different.
