FIRST LOOK! 2018 BMW Z4 Concept Images UNCOVERED Ahead Of Pebble Beach Debut

A full set of images of the BMW Z4 Concept has leaked onto the internet, revealing the styling direction of the 2018 Z4 roadster.

The images, which were discovered by Bimmerfile, reveal the show car in full, although no accompanying information was leaked; this will be released officially at the car’s unveiling at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance later today.

It follows the look that the latest BMW concepts, the X2 and 8 Series Concept - and their subsequent production models - will take, with larger kidney grilles at the front and a lack of Zicker line up the side of the car.

Finally a decent BMW design. I like it.

Me too. Could be the best looking Z roadster yet.

It just proves that BMW can style gorgeous cars, but they cannot put them into production.

MD- As it is only a concept, there is still plenty of opportunity to screw it up and dumb it down.

Pointy...

Why do they always show concepts that never look like the production model.

Please us an example of a concept car that they said was previewing a production model and the production model looked like nothing like that

Loving the way the new grill looks on this over how it looks on their 8 series concept. Great work BMW! Let's hope they keep the production car looking as similar as possible, and ditch the two different colored seats.

Welcome back BMW. You had us all scared!

Let's wait until it comes off the production looking like this. This would be a sexy little convertible for the wife.

The front air intakes and rear exhausts look like the latest Lexus' designs on the IS, LC, minus the grill of course.

If BMW's concept history is anything to go by, the production Z4 won't look anything like what is shown here. Remember the 2014 BMW Concept 4-Series Coupe? It doesn't look anything like the 4-series you see on the road today:

What?? If what you linked was the 4 Series coupe concept, then the actual 4 Series coupe in production looks exactly like it, except for the bottom half of the front and rear fascias.

Yeah, looks pretty similar to me

"except for the bottom half of the front and rear fascias." That's what makes this concept look aggressive in the first place. Get rid of those huge intakes in the bottom half of the front and rear fascias and this will be a watered down version of the concept, which is exactly what's going to happen because the current design will never pass safety and regulatory requirements.

Looks like BMW just keeps on introducing these pie in the sky concepts that always get severely watered down for their respective production models.

@GNUT Not sure if you understand how "concept" cars work? There is a lot of information about concept cars on the internet, may I suggest you get better informed before making further ignorant examples? The example you used here was simply embarrassing. Not a new experience for you admittedly but still. More information will result in a view point that comes across as better-informed.

If I hadn't already seen the camo'd car running about, then I'd probably get pretty excited about this concept and what the production car might be. But, alas, it will be much different than this, much less dynamic.

Considering it is a shared platform, the Supra may just be using hard points / corner + firewall safety structures and stretching it out. The Supra has been a 2+2 vehicle in the past. I doubt they would make it a 2 seat coupe now. But anything is possible. Time will tell. It should be a bigger car than the GT86.

Too bad it is not going to REPLACE the GT86.

Looks like Toyotas design got BMW to move further ahead than usual.

At least as far as concepts go, but Lexus built the LC pretty faithfully to the concept.

One of the nicer BMW designs. Can see F-type from some angles (head lights, slim tail lights) which is no bad thing as F-type is a gorgeous car. Glad they got rid of the hockey stick from the side.

The only thing that troubles me - and it's kind of important - is that you can see that the windshield is so raked and the sills so high that there will be no sensation of driving a convertible in this car.

These are sketches - and in sketches you can do lots of things that you would never get away with - even in a Prototype car. The severe rake of the Windshield here without anything on the sides to hold it up - will never pass Crash standards and won't make it to engineering. However - if you look at the obvious - there appears to be NO flat surface - front or back - the is High enough - where you could put a USA regular size License plate. And THAT tells you how far from production this sketch actually is. There are also no center rear lights. Those small - severely angled side mirrors will also likely not see the light of day.

So - as much as I would prefer not to - I must admit that I agree with Matt and CanadianComments that they indeed have a lot to do to bring this to a product that can be manufactured - and while I am not as pessimistic as they are - yes - it will not be as stunning as these images are.

I think this is the best new design from BMW in 15+ years, for a 2 seater Miata killer... maybe more... far better than the i8 and the rest of the unidentifiable new BMW's, sadly I am expecting/sure that the "reality" will be far less exciting. BMW has a knack for introducing Beautiful concept cars and building boring realities. Look no further than the future Luxury concept of 2014, Link: http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/news/g4681/photos-2014-bmw-vision-future-luxury-concept/ for the new 7 series, the concept would have been a home run if produced as the acutual 7 series replacement, the car we got and drive is an ugly barely revised dud... with a hockey stick on the side.... so the Z4 Concept is a nice exercise in clay, don't expect to drive one.

I didn't like the entire "Future Luxury Concept" but I can't find anything from BMW that said it previewed the next 7-Series, not speculation from a magazine, from the company itself, so I'm curious, what do you have from the manufacturer saying this concept was going to turn into the next 7-series?
