High Tech Audi A1 Aimed Squarely At The MINI Cooper

The new second-generation Audi A1 will be both more dynamic and more comfortable than its predecessor, according to insiders at the company’s Ingolstadt headquarters in Germany. The aim, they say, is to eclipse the latest Mini for overall competence.

Audi plans to achieve this by using a new platform structure, a heavily reworked suspension system that features optional adaptive damping control, a new range of engines and updated gearboxes.

The stupidity of VWAG is that they would create an A1 to battle the Mini Cooper, but the GTI competes with the Mini Cooper perfectly and surpasses it in the process.

The only competitor to the GTI from Mini in size and execution is the Clubman S

You're pathetically dense then if you can's see that a $30K Mini Cooper S and a $30K VW GTI are aimed at exactly the same customer.

Save your euphemisms for your next clan rally. The Golf GTI starts at $25.5k and the Clubman is closer in size to GTI than the regular 4 door Cooper, which is quite a but smaller inside and in overall dimensions.

Go look up the word "euphemism" so that you will know what it means and not make yourself look unintelligent.

I used no euphemisms.

You must one of those fragile-mindset, safe-zone, easily triggered snowflakes to throw the race card.

But if that's how you want to play it...

Save your prattling for the next terrorist Antifa meeting, but make sure to cash Soros' check ASAP.

The GTI's average transaction price hovers near $30K as quite coincidentally does the Cooper S. I realize that you have no way to know anything about how car sell in the real world. I am constantly monitoring average transaction prices.

As for the idiocy that the Clubman is analogous to the GTI, we're all laughing at your apples-to-oranges comparison. Then again perhaps you think a Spark and a Miata are analogous because they have a nearish footprint.

Judging by your response it's you that's quite easily triggered :) You always are and it doesn't take much to get you into 'ignorant attack' mode.

Your response also doesn't sound like you're laughing, you generally come across as frustrated and angry, much like your ilk.

But if this is helping you through your issues then we're all here for you sport.

In response to the actual car issue, if you've been in a current model Mini Cooper and a GTI you'd realise how much smaller the Mini is.

Mini actually names the GTI as a Clubman competitor and in other markets where cars like the MB A-class, BMW 1-series and Audi A3 are sold and the Golf is compared with those sized cars not the class below, where the Mini and Audi A1 compete.

Oh, and on the use "euphemism", the fact that you couldn't read the sarcasm in my statement by describing "pathetically dense" as a euphemism is unfortunate, it does require some intelligence and I'm not going to comment on yours but I think maybe you should look up 'euphemism' and 'sarcasm' then read my comment again. Once you calm down of course.

Hope you feel better.

If you knew ANYTHING about the marketing of the Mini Cooper S, you'd know that direct in its crosshairs is the GTI despite the difference in size.

The econo box models from Audi, BMW, and MB are not new, just new to the US market. The new A1 should appeal to those that would not be caught in a VW.
