Amazon's The Grand Tour May May the Jump To Traditional American TV
The enduring popularity of Top Gear meant that The Grand Tour was always going to be successful. But compared to the last incarnation of Top Gear which aired in 214 countries making it the most watched show in the entire world, the audience reach for The Grand Tour is limited. That’s because if you want to watch it (legally, that is), you need to pay for an Amazon Prime account every year. Predictably, the show became the most watched series on Amazon, but reportedly attracted less than half the viewing figures that Top Gear did in the UK.

Love the show. Can't stand Top Gear anymore since they departed. I did have to get Amazon Prime to watch it and will continue to subscribe if that's the only way. The show still needs some honing (the Celebrity Brain Crash bit is worn out already) but it's far and away better than the shows they left.

Why do these shows need to be in direct competition with each other. While it is nice to have bragging rights, and generate higher revenue through viewership, with DVRs and streaming, people can watch these shows at anytime, meaning they can coexist.

With that said, the Top Gear franchise has not been able to reignite the magic since the trio left.

i watch both, the new TG is trying just too hard and feels unimaginative and really just not as good entertainment as it was with the 3 amigo's.

GT needs some polish still as well. i can't get behind their track or their driver... i know, i know, us Americans hate everything thats not a big block spewing carbon made in the USofA/mexico/where ever as long as its an american brand but it gets annoying.
