MD- The debt in California is truly remarkable. Approx $1.3T. US national debt as a comparison is $20T. There is an aversion to sustainable spending and appropriate levels of taxation in the USA. Under funded public sector pensions are a disaster and plague many jurisdictions.

Yet the underfunded pensions can be fixed by slashing welfare as a freebie to freeloaders and returning it to a temporary safety net to workers who have paid in to the system.
