Research Group Says There Will Be 1 BILLION Electric Cars On The Road By 2050

While it remains a niche market with less than 2% market share in most countries, everything points to electric vehicles becoming mainstream and disrupting the auto industry in a big way sooner rather than later.

And Presidents Reagan and Trump will be added to Mt. Rushmore. Future prognostication is such fun, but ultimately pointless.

Funny but with predictions like this you would think that the oil companies would be playing the long game. Gas in Canada zoomed up do to Houston flooding. Up to $1.35/L for regular in the GTA. Crazy. If they wanted to stem the tide they should be keeping gas prices low. Just chasing quarterly profits. Eventually they will have a lot less business than they do today. But when that will be is anyone's guess.

I would run in 2020, but I will still be one year away from 35.

There may not be a need for 1 billion cars period in 2050 due to car sharing. For sure 99%+ of new cars will be electric by then unless an even better technology becomes available.
