Will Mercedes Turn Heads At The Country Club With The 2018 S-Class Cabriolet?
Mercedes-Benz will have an incredibly strong showing at this year’s Frankfurt Auto Show, and could potentially steal the show. Its AMG division will finally present the brand’s halo hypercar, the phenomenal Project One, while the EQ A Concept will usher a new generation of Mercedes EVs to take on Tesla. Elsewhere, the facelifted S-Class family will be expanded with the reveal of the 2018 Coupe – but that won’t be the only luxury grand-tourer on show this year.

Reports out of Europe is this is last version of an S Class convertible perhaps for sometime. It is to be replaced by a four seat SL convertible within a year or so. Get one while you can if you like and can afford it.

Mercedes' cabrio strategy makes no sense. As nice as the S-cab's are, to the general public, they are indistinguishable from the "E" and "C" cabs, with about the same amount of usable interior space. Plus the SL is sold

Sell one cheap one - the "C" - and then maybe make the SL a little bigger to slot in a Porsche 911/Aston DB-9/11-sized rear seat for occasional use.

Admittedly, in cabrio form, the S-Class just loses the slinkiness of the coupe version. It's still a great looking car, but the coupe just takes it to a whole other level. However, I do think, based on photos, that the new E has the best proportions of all the cabrios from Benz, though the C63 AMG does look pretty darn stunning.
