Nissan Leaf Vs Tesla Model 3 - Leading The Lamb To The Slaughter?

Nissan Leaf Vs Tesla Model 3 - Leading The Lamb To The Slaughter?
Tesla’s mission is simple and includes getting other automakers to join in the party. The Chevy Bolt, quirky as it may look, technically beat Tesla to market with a 200+ mile range EV that can be had for the $35,000 ballpark. Nissan, who I humbly believe to be the only other automaker currently taking full EVs seriously, has just announced their all new 2018 Leaf. The party is undoubtedly slow, but other automakers such as Volvo have at least talked about “electrification” (clever marketing shorthand for hybrids) but we can no longer deny that electric vehicles are here and their growth will not be able to be stopped.

Just as every concept EV talked about before 2016 was touted as a “Tesla killer,” it is now impossible not to compare every new electric offering with the much anticipated Tesla Model 3. So let’s do just that. The table below highlights some key specs for each.

No comparison. Still it is good to see the Leaf evolve and Nissan continuing to try and compete in the full EV market.

Each has their own pros and cons (fiftysix - I 1000% agree with you on the M-3s interior).
Will Tesla actually reach their goal of producing 20,000 M-3's per month? Their track record says no. Although Tesla has hired experienced people to help with that.
Nissan has the infrastructure to deliver high volume. The Leaf is now more "acceptable" than the Gen 1 - looking like a Rogue reduced 60%.
Both will have their buyers and neither will be the "lamb".
It's nice to see that there are EV's that will cover longer ranges. I just wish the charging station network was better.

Where are the Tesla Model 3 buyers? The Model 3 isn't even offered for sale. 400k+ deposits and delivery not for another year at least are the biggest CONS (pun intended) I see. Elon Musk just conned 400k+ people out of $1k each. This is even bigger than a ponzi scheme!

Where are the buyers? There were 400k of them waiting for their cars with more being added each day. Now they just need to make enough of them.

I would take the Leaf because it is built by a car company that knows how to build cars, but I'd take a Bolt over a Leaf. I sampled a Bolt for about two weeks courtesy of GM and it was a perfectly usable car, but not for me.
