Audi's S-Tronic Top Transmision

"Our 3.2 was fitted with VW-Audi's latest S-Tronic automatic transmission system, which is a revelation. Where BMW, Mercedes and even Ferrari have failed to produce a paddle change gearbox which works as you'd expect, VAG's six-speed, double-clutch system flicks up and down the gearbox with the speed and precision of a PlayStation controller."

Of course for those that have driven an Audi with S-Tronic (aka DSG) that's not a surprise.

I think those were buttons behind the steering wheel, but isn't there a difference between that and paddle shifts?

I have DSG on my A3... it is simply the best automatic transmission I have ever experiened. And Audi/VW will be spreading a seven-speed version across their lineup!

That will be sweet.

I had DSG on my GLI, paddle-shifting turns out to be instantaneous and fun. I hope they will have S-Tronic on Next Gen Audi A4.
