CAR WARS! GM's Finest Go Head-to-Head, Which Would YOU Rather? Camaro ZL1 1LE vs. Corvette Z06
It's pretty safe to say that we give General Motors a rough time. But, in all honesty, it's not because we want to see the auto group fail. We just want an American company to pull its head out of its ass and build excellent, volume-moving products.

It can be done.

Having said that, I have to say that GM does deliver on one front. Its performance cars are top notch. When I think of cars like the C7 Corvette, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, I can't help but smile. Hell, even the all-new Camaro is a pretty nice automobile.

To me, it seems like these vehicles actually represent the best work GM is doing. Now only if the automaker could apply this attention to detail across the lineup and up the ante, who knows what would be in store?

At this point it's clear that the company is producing two exceptional performance products. One is the Corvette Z06 and the other is the Camaro ZL1 1LE. Both are V8-powered, 650 horsepower machines. The only question at this point is WHICH and WHY?

Very tough choice, but to live with on a day-to-day basis, the Camaro. Both are tremendous products.

I chose the Corvette Z06 and am almost 100% satisfied. Even the service has been excellent.

The Z06 is tremendously fun to hustle around a track.

I'd get a used Viper T/A.

Vipers are a lot of fun. They don't handle especially well, but if you know how to drive, you can hustle them around quickly.

MD- The T/A seems to be the bomb in terms of handling. Much more than the standard models minus the ACR. Track or street it does well. But it is still a Viper (loud, firm). Since this is pie in the sky I would also replace the transmission with a sequential unit kit from PPG/Pfitzner. Fast shifting indeed.

Practically any car can be "the bomb" in handling if a driver knows how to drive it the way it needs to be driven. Sure a Viper can be driven fast, but a Z06 will be much easier to drive as fast. I often show my tail lights to a moron in a GTR who thinks he can drive, but he can't. His "daddy" keeps shelling out the $$ for mods, but go to a driving school? Nope.

There is an orange Viper T/A with an ACR wing (painted orange) in my area. Somebody daily drives it. I have seen in driving down the street and at the supermarket more than once. Too funny. It is smaller (lengthwise) in person but it is very low and very, very wide.
