The Man Behind The Pastel Rolls-Royces, McLarens, Etc. — Michael Fux, The Most Interesting Man In The Car World

Self-made millionaire Michael Fux owns more luridly coloured luxury cars than he knows what to do with, but he admits that his obsession shows no sign of abating.

The American made his money from selling mattresses and has a penchant for Rolls-Royces and McLarens in matching colours.

He is a man with a lot of cars. He’s not sure exactly how many, but at one point he had 160 and needed three hangar-sized garages to keep them in. What’s arriving next? Take a breath, reader. Incoming this year are three
Porsches, a Ferrari 812 Superfast, a Pagani Huayra, a Dodge Demon, a Mercedes-AMG GT R plus the roadster and coupe´ versions of the GT C Edition 50. Oh, and then there are two S65s on order. “One for Florida, one for California,” he says...

Even if I was "that guy" I am not sure I would ever have a barn full of cars. I would hate the $$ spend on insuring them just to sit there. I would have vehicles but they would all have a job and be different. Motorcycle or two as well. Bicycles and skateboards and likely something for in the bush like a 4 wheeled ATV that could seat 4. But not 100 cars just to look at.

I'm not saying that 100 cars would be cheap to insure, but vanity car insurance is relatively cheap if you agree not to drive much. I have a small collection and storing them and maintaining them is much more costly than the insurance.

People collect all sorts of things - Comic Books to Oil Paintings - If a person had 100 paintings in a Mansion - no one would look twice, and they could be far more expensive than 100 cars. This is simply the advantage of having money - my boss can replace his Phantom with a new one - even when it has three thousand miles on it - because the rugs are getting dirty! -(THAT was his excuse) Frankly - I would bet there is someone who can clean the rugs in a Rolls Royce adequately.

Believe me - all the foster children I had were probably far more expensive than most collections of other things.`

I'd love to have Fux's facility. I have a metal barn for my cars. I need to make more money.
