Arguably two of the best looking Mercedes-Benz products right now, the S-Class Coupe and Convertible are truly great designs. Long and elegant, they remind me of really slick boats.

To me they're not over the top or in your face. And while I understand some buyers aim for that look and feel, that's not most folks style when they have deep pockets.

In the last thread I asked if you could spot the changes. In this thread, however, I just want you to take in all that the refreshed 2018 S63 and S65 bring to the table.

So, what do you think, Spies?

I am not enamored by the horizontal AMG emblem on the front Grille - otherwise - indeed yes - the car is truly stunning.

$265 CAD for the S65 Coupe before any options or choosing the convertible. To compare a Bentley Continental GT Speed is $357k CAD with 8k on it as a demonstrator. Used Ferrari F12's from 2015 are going for $400K+ CAD. For what you get there is a lot of value in that Benz.

The irony is that this is so much more captivating than the brand new Bentley Continental.

MD- I would still buy a used F612 vs this new Benz and pocket the difference. Or do that and get a Honda Africa Twin too. The Bentley has a shape (soap bar-ish) that you either like or don't like. I personally much prefer the new Conti vs the old one. But I would have put more of the EXP10 6 concept into the design. Presently I find myself preferring older humourless Benz interiors than the newer softer Benz by Barbie aping Rolls Royce designs.

I hear you.

For me the new Bentley Conti looks like a mild restyling of the old one and it just looks blubbery.

I would never spend this level of money on just one car. I'd spend it on several cars, sure.

I'm not adverse to spending money, but I'm also appalled at what things cost. I'm notorious for selling instantly when a good price comes. I'm not an emotional owner.

If I can sell something for more than what I have into it, I'm like Myers Jackson saying "sold, sold, sold" and its gone. My wife rolls her eyes at my flips.

I also won't sell some things I own at any price.

Two mentors of mine had small collections that they transferred to me so that I would not have to pay inheritance tax when they died and there were some real gems like a real Ford Thunderbolt. I sold nearly all of them, made a killing, and poured that money into the next venture.

Very few cars matter to me. I just did an amazing flip on a TVR Tasmin, dropped a 2.3 Ecoboost into it, and it came out great. It was supposed to be mine, but someone asked what I wanted for it. I gave a stupid-high figure and the guy said OK. I threw the trailer on the Ram and drove it to Texas with a buddy.

I have two deposits on a certain plastic shouty thing but that's probably 4 years away from arrival. I'm hoping to be amazed.

I also like cars to have some life to them. Too polished and they get boring.

I have lived my life this way too and it seems to work. There is always a deal to be had if you look hard enough. Great quote.

Knowing when to divest is also a tremendous gift too.
