Tesla Update Added Range To Florida Residents Vehicles To Escape From Irma
Tesla has temporarily increased the range of select vehicles in an effort to help Florida residents escape the wrath of Hurricane Irma.

Electrek reports that the electric automaker has unlocked the full battery capacity of Model S and Model X 60 and 60D models with 75-kWh battery packs.

While the ‘60’ models are no longer offered, they were once the cheapest Model S and Model X variants and were software limited to 60-kWh despite having 75-kWh batteries. If customers wanted, they could pay a little extra to have that additional 15-kWh unlocked.

Charity is not dead, I guess.

I do wonder what Houston and Florida Tesla owners will do, if the power in their areas remains 'off' for an extended period of time, which will prevent them from charging their Tesla's.

Maybe Elon Musk can send them some mountain bikes until such time as their cars can be recharged?

Nothing reinforces "irrelevant" than a long power outage to a Tesla owner.

I wonder how long it would take to charge a Tesla with one of those Honda generators from Home Depot?

What most car owners would get AFTER purchase is a 10% discount on next service.

The fact that Tesla has the will and the means to provide upgrades via OTA (mostly free in term of software) post-sales speaks volume to their business model. This is what separates Tesla from the rest of the industry.

I'm convinced that BobM has to be a bot installed by this site to make crazy comments just to generate additional responses by actual people.

Gosh I don't know. Probably the same thing owners of ICE vehicles will do if gas stations remain closed?
