#IAA: As An Enthusiast, Where Does a Self Driving Sport Sedan Fit Into Your World?
While Audi’s Sport Division revealed the new rear-wheel drive R8 and the new-generation RS4 Avant, the automaker’s core offerings at the Frankfurt Auto Motor Show consisted of concept cars alongside the new flagship A8. What you’re looking at here is the Audi Aicon, a sleek, futuristic-looking concept designed to preview the future of fully autonomous car tech beyond 2025. As such, the Aicon features Level 5 autonomy, meaning it can drive itself without any human intervention whatsoever.

Nowhere. If you want self-driving plus exciting, take a roller-coaster.

Twice a day. On the morning commute and the evening commute. If you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic for what feels like 40 minutes of a 1hr drive home, radar cruise control or autonomous driving fits in with any type of car. Honda Odyssey or a Viper. There is no enthusiast element at 5kph.

It fits right next to the washing machine as a utilitarian appliances that performs a necessary function while providing no joy whatsoever.

A self-driving sports sedan is an oxymoron. What's the point?

I am not stupid - if they Want to GIVE me a car - I certainly would take it - the idea that it would be driven by the little old computer from Pasadena not withstanding.

Otherwise - I am approaching 80 - and I know that it is unlikely that I will be able to drive as much as I once did (I still regularly drive directly from NJ - to FLA straight through with stops only for meals and gas and rest areas)
So - there might come a time when I might consider an Autonomous car as a replacement for a Taxi - or Train Travel. And I agree - commuting in the NYC area can really be terrible at times. THe question is- does the autonomous driver count as a passenger in the car for the discount?

Let's face it, 99% of people don't drive for fun anymore. It's just commutes and errands, and usually the drives are long and unpleasant.

Funny, the other day I walked past a Lamborghini stuck in gridlocked rush hour traffic. Cool car, but I literally could outperform it by walking.

Now, if the next A7 had the flash of the side/rear styling with a less idiotic nose, then this would be a sensation, but because it's just Audi's concept masturbation and nothing of substance, it's essentially spent on arrival.

In my neighbor's garage, not mine!
