Mazda To Electrify Entire Line-Up By 2030

Mazda still doesn’t offer any electric vehicle and often talk down the technology publicly. Yet, they are reportedly planning to commit to the technology and announce that they will only sell electric cars and hybrids by Reuters reported last week:

“Mazda Motor Corp plans to make all of its vehicles electric-based, including petrol hybrids, by the early 2030s, Japanese media reported on Friday, as more automakers shift strategies to meet tightening global emission regulations.”

Mazda refused to comment on or deny the report.

2030? Imagine the long range goals they established in 2004, and how many of those would have been accurate, relevant or make any sense these days.

Well, all engines would have been rotary by now, right? :)

Just remember, "electrify" does not mean "pure EV". And as carloslassiter says, a lot can happen over the next decade that might render today's thinking, and plans, obsolete.

After the liberal zealots start condemning, abusing, eviscerating and back stabbing Mazda as liberal all do, they will then start looking at EV more seriously

Toyota will have fully assimilated Mazda by then.

Sorry Matt - even then - there will be ICE gas and diesel engine cars and Trucks - and of course Hybrids have ice engines as well. AND yes - there will be some Fuel cell cars just as today there are some Ev's. I would suggest the Fuel cell car company be called EDISON - that company lasted - Tesla did not.

Since it takes often 20 years just to get approvals to build new electric generating plants in some areas- the infrastructure for EV's will not exist in most areas for only EV's in 2030. It might not exist in lots of rural areas by 2050 as well. While Hybrids might eventually replace cars - trucks will soldier on well after 2030.

I predict that it will be "solar" powered cars - where the solar array powers the car during the day AND charges the Batteries for cloudy day and night driving - will eventually replace even current EV's.

And I would also expect science to develop a "solar" type cell - that works on heat - rather than light - and that would work all night long. Heat pumps can take Heat from even low temperature air today - so we know it is possible.
