2007 Nissan Altima Previewed by C&D.

"The difference between this new 2007 Altima and its 2001–2006 forebear is subtle, a mild injection of aggression into an already attractive car. Major change in the Altima wasn’t necessary, as the previous-generation Altima was Nissan’s best-selling car, named North American Car of the Year in 2002, and it rose to fourth best-selling car in the United States.

Dimensionally, the car is only minutely changed, shrinking in length and wheelbase by 2.5 and 0.9 inches respectively. Width grows by 0.3 inch and height remains unchanged. The new Altima only outweighs the previous generation by about 100 pounds."

I really like the styling of this car, and I know it will be a big seller.

^ Why not? It's a huge seller. I'm sure it sells more than any Audi, Mercedes, BMW, or Lexus.
Just because it's not expensive dosen't mean it's a bad car. It's very good.
You have issues.

What's the point of buying this over a Mazda6? Or even Mazdaspeed6?

Because I like Nissan in general and I admire their boldness, but this car is already looking dated. And I feel they made the wrong move with this new Sentra- it looks too much like a crushed Maxima.

I don't think there is a reason to by this over a Mazdaspeed6, but there is a reason to buy over the much weaker Mazda6.

Why buy this over a mazda6? The VQ35 is one of the best V6's on the market. The 6 uses the Ford Duratec 3.0. No comparison...the 4's are prob much better matched however...the speed6 is much more expensive and not really a competitor to the altima, think TL etc

No, the Mazdaspeed6 is a competitor to the Altima SE-R.

I'll just take an Accord Si with a 300hp V6 out of the Acura RL... hmm, I should give that idea to Honda!

I think the 6 is incredibly outdated. Good, but old. I also think the Altima's styling is fresh. You really need to look closely, though.

Exactly. TOO closely. It looks too much like the last-gen.

Whatever... Nissan seems to be heading in the wrong direction with the new Sentra and Maxima, possibly the Altima will perk up their line. But it just doesn't look different enough.
